Current List for FEMA Credits that TESC Accepts?
#1
Does anyone know where I can find the most updated list of which FEMA courses are accepted by TESC as Free Electives?

The newest I've seen is from March:

(You may need to click to zoom in)

Otherwise if you ask an adviser they should be able to email it to you, at least that's how I got the March transfer list. I'd expect it to be the same, it appears they updated the list yearly but then update the course codes from xxx to xxx.a to xxx.b as needed.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

TESC now say:

"03/26/12 Credit cannot be granted for the following FEMA IS courses:

IS-00111.a
IS-00130
IS-00362.a

If you have questions or concerns regarding the credit you received
based on the Thomas Edison State College review of this organization,
please contact the Heavin School of Arts and Sciences at
heavin@tesc.edu"

So completing the remaining courses on that list will still net you 30 credits.

For IS-130 you take IS-120.a as well in order to get one credit total. If you take both, instead of giving you one credit split between the two (.5 each) they will give you one credit for one course and not accept the other course.

For the other ones, the guide I have doesn't have the .a on the numbering for those specific courses. When I brought mine in they completely missed one of the courses so I'd say my advice is to open a ticket for 111.a and 362.a. You will not get credit for 130 though (as long as they took 120.a). Based on the March list you would take 36 courses to get 32 credits.

The "a" just denotes that it is a newer version of the course. TESC are not accepting any of these 3 classes now, but you can still get 30 credits by taking the others in the list. I have all 30 on my evaluation.

TESC took 235.a from my FEMA list even though the March guide shows 235.b as the course code. I think the code just throws them off in the initial evaluation but you may get them to overturn it. I don't need anymore free electives so it's not important to me but the courses I took were all taken.

I spoke to Express Advisement today and they are no longer sending out a list as it is changing very rapidly. They advised me to send them an email list of the courses I was interested in and they would reply back as to whether or not they would be accepted.

My advise is to call up Express Advisement and get someone's email. I did it for 22 courses yesterday and they responded pretty quickly. So far they have accepted 36 credit for me (the max limit does not apply to the BS HSEP as per their dean.)
TESC - AAS in Environmental, Safety & Security Technologies (Enrolled)
TESC - BS Homeland Security & Emergency Preparation (Enrolled)
FEMA - 36 Credits + PDS (Transcripted at TESC) - Currently working on more...
USFA - 3 Credits
Straighter Line: College Algebra, US History I, World Civ I, Intro to Criminal Justice, A&P I, Biology I
ALEKS - Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra
Test Drive College - Comp I
