Community Award Time
#1
Compared to many, I am a newbie on this forum. So, forgive me if what I am about to "propose" below has been suggested or done before.

There is no denying the fact this forum (of course with its sister forum) has been a blessing to many. Those who have been members here for a while will agree that this forum is the "ebay" of online (and traditional) degree seekers who want to transfer or test out. Unlike ebay though, members posts questions, offer advice, and engage in debates over what is and what is not-- for free. I believe this is a community where many people are kind enough to offer guidance, offer their experiences, and help others (both newbies and "oldbies") find their paths.

I also believe that there is no one on this forum who has not been helpful one way of the other. While some are always here to provide answers, there are those whose questions help to make us rethink our stance on particular issues.

I am proposing (assuming nothing of this has been done before) that the members of this forum "come together" and nominate the FORUM MEMBER OF THE YEAR. I think the administrators of this forum can organize this in such a way that we the "floor members" can nominate people we m believe deserve to be awarded. Award does not necessarily have to come with a gift. We can enjoy the fun of it. Smile Just thinking out loud. Smile

That could be fun. We have an annual awards show on another forum I visit, and it's an event that people always look forward to.

It sounds like a popularity contest. As an identified INTJ personality by the ever-accurate online quizzes, I am patently against the idea.

(But think it would be cute. My first vote goes to Burbuja0512 for being such an excellent role model, and taking the time to contribute despite the fact that life is moving at the speed of light for her right now!)

I love that people are coming up with fun ideas, especially new forum members! That's awesome! My own opinion is that I don't really like the award thing, because I think it muddies the spirit of altruism, however, I'm not going to come down on fresh ideas. I have a suggestion though, what if you came up with something a bit less serious? Maybe "funniest line of the month", worst "TESC advising advice" (lol booooo I know, but that WOULD be funny) or something along those lines?

While I do think it is a great idea, I also see the other side saying it is a popularity contest. Maybe just state what was the best piece of advice you received from the boards and by whom (if you want to include it) or who was the biggest help to you personally.
