Excelsior does not accept all of the FEMA classes either. They're REALLY weird about them. I have some and it wasn't worth the work that Excelsior required or the fees.

Yeah, $90/cr for "free" credits is NOT a good deal.  Considering that there are cheaper options aplenty (CSM Learn, ALEKS, OD, ICC, Saylor, Sophia, Study.com, CLEP, DSST, UExcel, LL TECEP, TEL, etc.).

I'm helping a relative with a degree program, and the advisor had told us that if the FEMA courses come in on an FCC transcript, they will be accepted as RA credit, period.

I know from experience that the advisor may have misspoken, so I'm taking a wait-and-see approach at this point.  But we have an FCC transcript in the hopper, and should have an eval in the next few weeks.

As far as I'm concerned, $90/ea for RA credits, if they are accepted by your school and fit your degree program, can be a viable option and a very good deal.

I agree; $90 per credit isn't that much if the credits fit into your degree plan. Especially if they are accepted as RA credit.
  • TEL Learning - $66/cr but these are only general education courses.
  • ASU EA - $106 (4cr courses) or $142 (3cr courses) per credit.
  • Westcott - Somewhere around $166 to $250 per credit.
  • Clovis CC - $110/cr if you don't live in NM.
  • NMJC - $89/cr
  • BYU - $212/cr
  • UofIdaho - $160/cr
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210
