Credit for CISSP or CEH at TESC?
#1
I know there are some infosec people on the forum... has anyone successfully obtained credit for their CISSP or CEH at TESC? If so, how did you go about the validation process?

TESC asked me to send notarized photocopies of my certs, but the notary I asked wouldn't notarize them. I can understand why, since he can't vouch for their authenticity. I'm tempted to contact the certifying bodies for each of my certs and have them send certs directly to TESC. Any CISSPs or CEHs in the house?

I encountered this same request for my FINRA & NFA licenses (securities & futures). TESC accepted a notarized cover sheet stating "enclosed are....."

Ahh ok... so the notarization is not necessarily to authenticate the documents (certs) themselves? Can you give me an example of what this cover sheet should say?

I'm curious. Were you able to obtain credit for the securities licenses such as 7 and/or 66? If so, how was the credit applied? Thanks!

Yes, credit for FINRA & NFA licenses are included in TESC's catalog although it took 4 months to get the credit posted to my evaluation. 6 SH for series 7- applied as FIN 321 & PHI-285 (Ethics), Series 66- 1SH- applied as FIN 399, Series 3- only 1SH (despite being tougher than Series 7)- applied as FIN 324.
Series 30 is 2SH & Series 34- 3SH- not yet posted.

That's great news. Those credits would help me. Was there an issue with them that took the 4 months for credit? Also, I don't have a copy of the licenses. Is this easy to get and I'm assuming from FINRA?

you can pull up proof here: FINRA - FINRA BrokerCheck

Most of the people @ TESC do not realize that credit is granted for these licenses, and frankly they do not understand them. Ultimately I had to forward the catalog to the finance group in advising & have them explain it to the evaluation staff. Even then they did not want to give me credit for the 7 stating that also needed a series 63. I had to explain that the 66 was = to the 63 & 65.
If you want credit, you need to forward the page from their catalog. If you need it, send me a pm w/ your email address or help me figure out how to attach it to a message here.

I'm familiar with Broker Check but I must be missing where I can print this out if you can direct me? I'll try to figure out how to send you a PM with my email as I can't find anything on the 7 or 66 in the catalog. Also, anything else you can tell me would be helpful if you have any of the TESC contacts that worked on this for you. I hope it won't take me 4 months! Maybe using your experience you shared it may be easier for me.

I sent a notarized copy of my CISSP certificate but received no credit for it. It isn't listed in the catalog as providing any credit, but I figured I had nothing to lose. If you were to get credit for yours please come back and tell us!

Nope, no luck here. I was notified today that I would not get credit because neither the CISSP nor CEH have been "evaluated." They mentioned PLA as an option however. Sad
