Credit-eligible courses for computer modeling for lathing?
#1
I need to do some 2D modeling or technical drawings by hand for my side-projects that I do on a lathe. If I could draw or do this on a computer it would make my life easier.

I searched Sophia, study.com as well as Coursera but couldn't find anything where I'd get credits. Does anyone know if there are any credit-eligible courses? Might as well make it count if I can before I spend a week on Udemy.

It's too simple of a topic to get credits, you may have already done with making the part by the time you are done researching.

In case you have less than 20 hours of machining experience, I'd recommend practicing doing the calculation manually in your mind.

The formulas are intuitive and not that hard once you understand it; experienced machinists rely on no calculator/computer for a 30 min jobs and need to adjust the number on the go as you are cutting through the part.

If you insist on 2D-3D drawing practice, try https://learn.onshape.com/. It's free for student and teacher; ask your advisor if you don't have a school email for access; you can also raise about doing this for extra credits at your school.

Sometimes the best training is the software tutorials by itself, you can try that with onshape or any 3D software that you have.

Hmm, if it was 3D modeling and Game Art & Development, SNHU has a degree for that... They've got one for Graphic Design & Media Arts as well, UX or Web concentration. It's not really what you're looking for, you may want to do a Google search and see what pops up for college credits or degrees available for that subject matter and go from there...
