Credit Transfer Confusion
#21
Thank you. My SL Transcript was sent to TESU and it has Calculus I so I should be fine there. I am ready to start just waiting for my courses to transfer and will probably start with LL CS courses to get those out of the way.

If Capstone counts for CS as well, then I could replace one of the UL subjects with a LL subject (AOS CS) which would speed up the process. I will have to check with my adviser. Hopefully that the case.

I am aware of the residency requirement - 15 credits at TESU or pay over 3k for the waiver.

However, I also noticed that if you do not graduate within 15 months you have to pay the fee again.

In this case, if I understand it correctly, one should do all the courses outside of TESU, then register for Medical Terminology, send all the ACE transcripts and have 15 months to finish all the TESU courses.

Is my understanding correct?

No, you're overthinking things, just do as recommended. Apply, send all transcripts, register the Medical Terminology, do the final 15 credits for residency. No one pays the residency waiver until they've completed the degree(s), it wouldn't be a problem if it's the last thing to do... Review this thread, even senior members and moderators alike get this confused. My answer is in this link, it's in correction to the posts before it: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid390111

No, it is easier than that. The 15mo clock does not start until you pay the residency waiver, and you don't pay it until you're all done with courses and apply for graduation. The only time the 15mo time limit comes into play is when people decide to earn a second degree after the first, and have to finish the requirements for the second degree after paying the waiver and graduating the first degree.

Hence why we tell people not to pay the waiver fee unless and until they HAVE to do so. Some people may get anxious and want to send in the money early, but then face delays and not get things done in time. Rules, degree pathways, and life situations change all the time. Students may also end up taking more credits at TESU than they initially expected and not need the waiver after all. TESU doesn't even guarantee protection against fee increases for people who've already paid but not fully utilized the waiver.
Once you're at the point of submitting the graduation application, pay the residency waiver fee if required at that time.

Sometimes people want to 'get ahead of themselves' and rush things... That is why many times in my posts, I tell people not to rush, go in an orderly fashion and get things done as if it's a shopping list of activities/classes to complete. Just like at the end of your shopping cart, you pay then... In store or online, you don't pay for anything earlier than that...

Hi guys,

Thank you for your great help thus far. I come to you again with a couple of more questions. I was able to register for two free TECEPs and they show as 'Registered' in my progress. Since I did not have much choice I went with Network Technology and Computer Concepts and Applications.

My questions are as follows:
1. Could I 'keep' one of the TECEPs - I mean I would not take the test so, it keeps me enrolled (basically, instead of Medical Terminology which I have not registered for yet).
2. Since I am now registered for those two TECEPs, do I have unlimited transcript evaluations? I completed 2 courses since I joined so I would like to have them added to my progress.
3. I am registered for the March 2024 Semester. Do I have to take it only during this Semester or could I take it later?

Thank you in advance for your, as always, great help.

Yes, now that you're registered you can send in as many transcripts as you like. No reason to "hold" one, though, you'll stay enrolled for a year regardless. The only reason we tell people not to take the medical terminology TECEP is because it's the only 1cr one and so it only costs $50, which is nice if you are just registering for it to become enrolled. Once you take it, you have to use a more expensive TECEP if you want to extend your enrollment in the future.

Once you register for a TECEP, you have to take it within the 12 week term, or lose it.

Thank you for your very informative response. Once my Study.com Discrete Mathematics is confirmed I will send them my StraighterLine Calculus II (Credly) and Study.com transcripts.

And one more question regarding Study.com. I read on their website that their transcript can be sent directly to the university (no need to go through Credly). Is one method of sending the transcript from Study.com better than the other or it does not matter?

TESU requires that Study.com transcripts be sent directly. SDC credits sent via Credly are not accepted.
