Hi all. I'm almost done with the Coursera UX Design Specialization. I'm doing Build Dynamic User Interfaces (UI) for Websites and it has a lot of things saying "Optional" in the title. But if I don't do them, it won't mark the Module as completed with the green check mark. Does anyone know if it's really optional and if I will get the certificate of completion without doing them? Thank you!

To get the certificate (and the credits) all you need to do are the graded bits. Someone who is already familiar with UX can literally skip through everything and only do the graded bits and still get the certificate.
The green check marks don't matter unless it's a graded bit.

That's right, you just need to complete the requirements, anything optional such as the discussions, introduction, or even the quizzes within the videos can be skipped (I usually do them and only view the videos at max 1.5 times, I can't go faster than that as I like to 'hear' what they teach, especially 1.25x for those I really want to understand the info taught). Again, complete the required areas, use the other optional areas for extra learning to cement/retain the material better.
