Using Alissa's Bachelor's of Liberal Studies breakdown for Excelsior, I decided to see what I find to be the cheapest breakdowns for the Bachelors (with and without GRE tests)
The core outlay is Admissions $75 Annual Fee (Enrollment) $895 Graduation $495 Total Core Outlay - $1465 Without GRE - General Education Requirements--9CR in two areas and 6CR in one area Social Sciences & History, 6 or 9 Credits Social Sciences & History CLEP_______________3 Social Sciences & History CLEP_______________3 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _3 Natural Sciences & Mathematics, 6 or 9 Credits, at least 2 of which must be college-level math or statistics Natural Sciences CLEP______________________3 Natural Sciences CLEP______________________3 Math Course – ALEKS _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _3 Humanities, 6 or 9 Credits Humanities CLEP__________________________3 Humanities CLEP__________________________3 Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP _ _ _3 ALSO English Composition Requirement--3CR Written English Uexcel English Comp______________________3 Information Literacy--1CR Required Information Literacy – Penn Foster___________1 Depth Requirement #1--12 CR in a single discipline, 3 at upper level Math Course - ALEKS______________________3 College Mathematics CLEP__________________3 College Mathematics CLEP__________________3 Statistics Course – ALEKS__________________3UL Depth Requirement #2--12 CR in a single discipline, 3 at upper level US History I CLEP________________________3 US History II CLEP________________________3 American Government CLEP ________________3 Civil War and Reconstruction DSST___________3UL You will need 15 more upper level credits in the Arts & Sciences Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union DSST________3UL Substance Abuse DSST____________________3UL ECE Test________________________________3UL ECE Test________________________________3UL ECE Test________________________________3UL Additional Upper Level Credits, you need nine--These can be Applied Professional/Free Elective Business Law II DSST_____________________3UL MIS DSST ______________________________3UL Principles of Finance DSST _________________3UL Additional Arts & Sciences/Applied Professional/Free Electives--up to 60 Credits You can take whatever you want to fill up the rest of your credits, as long as it does not duplicate what is listed above Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP ____3 American Literature CLEP__________________3 American Literature CLEP__________________3 English Literature CLEP ___________________3 English Literature CLEP ___________________3 Biology CLEP ___________________________3 Biology CLEP ___________________________3 Chemistry CLEP_________________________3 Chemistry CLEP_________________________3 Spanish/French CLEP_____________________3 Spanish/French CLEP_____________________3 Spanish/French CLEP_____________________3 Spanish/French CLEP_____________________3 Lower Level CLEP or DSST ________________3 Lower Level CLEP or DSST ________________3 CLEP Tests Total 15 X $72 CLEP Tests Costs $1080 DSST Tests Total 6 x $80 DSST Tests Costs $480 ECE Tests Total 3 x $240 (I may have found an old chart on this, not sure) ECE Tests Costs $720 Uexcel Tests Total 1 X $85 Uexcel Tests Cost $85 ALEKS Course Total - 3/20$ Month ALEKS Costs $40 (You can do it in 1 month, but adding a little pillow here) Penn Foster Course total - 1@$90 Penn Foster Course Cost - $90 Instant Cert Costs 5 Months - $100 Transcripts Penn Foster, ACE, & College Board - $65 Total Nonmilitary Cost for Testing out of Excelsior with 7 course taken through PF, ALEKS, considering no additional exam fees and no money spent on subject books (IE Hit the Library) - $4125 What really hurts this form is the lack of available upper level test credits through DSSTs. Edit - Took out Straighterline because the costs outweighed the benefits (compared to three tests) added the transcript fees in, and got rid of the extra $440 fee that I had added in by mistake.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Isn't there a $440 Student Services Fee if you don't take 6 credits minimum through Excelsior?
Edit - Whoops, that's the enrollment fee for the second year on at Excelsior. Fixed the two roadmaps to reflect that, and made other minor changes.

It's also worth mentioning--since this thread lists so many cost-saving measures like Aleks and FEMA--that the National Fire Academy does have two one-credit courses similar to FEMA that can be transcribed on an ACE transcript for just the initial $40 transcription fee, less if you are already using ACE transcripts for Aleks. I think it's worth looking into, especially since the information literacy requirement often puts Excelsior students graduating with 121 rather than the 120 credits needed. These two credits can round out that oddball info lit credit so that you don't have to take a three-credit CLEP or DSST just to get the two credits needed. I meant to rework one of my plans to include this, since it would have saved at least $40. But since I didn't squeeze it in there, here's the link in case anyone would rather use those two free elective credits instead of taking an extra exam: NFA Online Home Page

And remember, just about any way you do a degree through Excelsior, TESC, or Charter Oak will put you in a better position than this guy.
