TESU: BA in Comp Sci (2016)
TECEP:Env Ethics (2015); TESU PLA:Software Eng, Computer Arch, C++, Advanced C++, Data Struct (2015); TESU Courses:Capstone, Database Mngmnt Sys, Op Sys, Artificial Intel, Discrete Math, Intro to Portfolio Dev, Intro PLA (2014-16); DSST:Anthro, Pers Fin, Astronomy (2014); CLEP:Intro to Soc (2014); Saylor.org:Intro to Computers (2014); CC: 69 units (1980-88)

They told me the General studies concentration will be phased out, and will be replaced by the Child Studies major. My end goal is to become a kindergarten teacher. I am planning to use the bachelor's from COSC and apply to WGU's teacher college to obtain my teacher's licensure and get a masters in elementary education. I thought it would be easier and quicker to get my bachelor's from COSC and test out of as much as possible using CLEP, DSST, and ACE credits since COSC will allow more credits to tranfer in so can get the bachelor's quicker.
If you end goal is to be a teacher it might make sense just to start at a WGU.

I don't know how it is in your state, but in my state, the elementary certification is EC - 6, meaning early childhood to 6th grade. But, our elementary schools typically only go up to 5th grade.

While you can apply directly to a kindergarten opening, schools here will move you where they need you. With that in mind, I wouldn't recommend an early childhood studies degree program because you might have to teach science, social studies, language arts, and math to pre-teens.

I always thought ECE was for preschool, and if you wanted to teach in K-6, then that was an elementary teaching degree? If I was starting from scratch (or close to it), I would go straight for a elementary teaching degree that incorporates student-teaching into the program - like WGU. If I had a bunch of credits, I'd finish a bachelor's degree in liberal studies, and then find an in-state teaching licensure program to do my student-teaching/online education courses at the same time (and many times with a stipend/salary for your student-teaching).

Getting a more expensive ECE degree isn't worth it for what you want to do.
