Anyone have a lead on where to find CC courses for a 15 year old. RA would be the most ideal...

I took community college classes when I was 16. I just filled out a form at my high school and could take anything I wanted.

First, all CC's should be RA.  If you find one that is not, do not go to it.

Second, most CC's will almost automatically accept kids in their junior/senior years of HS.  If your state has dual enrollment, that is ideal.  Here in CA, dual enrollment means that they can take CC courses tuition-free.  LOTS of kids here take the state up on their generosity.

Third, if you local CC won't take them automatically, they normally have a process, and forms, that should be online.  Just ask them.

Check with your school and your local CC. I know the school my kids go to has a partnership for dual enrollment with our local CC. When I was in highschool (ancient history) my school had a program with a near by university where we could take Into to Psych and some programming classes at the highschool and then take a challenge exam for college credit.

Just wondering, is your 15-year-old homeschooled or going to a public/private school? You can get them started with the local college dual enrollment OR, if they're homeschooled, start them off with the CLEP/ACE options available for college credits.

I have 6 kids that we've homeschooled over the years. Two of them graduated with extensive college credits. I've also been on the various DL boards since 2001, so I'm familiar with the nuances of DL and all of the basics.

We don't have a CC that accepts 15 year olds at this point. That was the reasoning for the specific question. I should have asked if anyone had experience with a CC that allows 15 year old kids. I'm not interested in ACE options and the like. RA credits will be best for this situation and CCs are generally less expensive/easier to work with.

I'd need to know what state you're in. I'm also shocked that everyone has such an easy time "just signing up" at a community college- despite being in a large homeschooling for college credit community, that is certainly NOT the norm. For a regionally accredited college to accept someone WITHOUT A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA/GED, they absolutely have to have a formal program in place. Most of the time there are very specific rules regarding who/what/where/when/how and most importantly - who pays. The norm is 11th grade but some states are much more generous- Florida, for instance, allows enrollment at 6th grade. Also, there will be a placement exam- either the PSAT/SAT/ACT or the college's own test (Accuplacer/Compass).
Without double checking, I believe that the BYU Indy study courses are open to any age.

My son did the BYU college American Gov course for high school and like it.
