You're a fantastic degree planner. You'd get more clients if you charged DOUBLE, not half. Like moths to a flame....

I'm wondering if things have changed and they now offer more courses of their own? If you really do get unlimited regionally accredited courses then that's a much better deal. I opened up a chat to find out (because there is nothing on their site about other course fees). The person that I spoke with said that they currently have 45 regionally accredited courses through THEM - so completely included in the package price which I believe is currently $6,500 for unlimited courses.
With the degree planning and accountability, it doesn't seem fair to say that they are horribly overpriced especially if you have the time to take so many courses (if you didn't then it would go back to being a terrible deal I guess). If you took 40 courses through them it would only be about $165 per course AND you get coaching, study materials, degree planning, etc.
The reason I am posting this is because I talk to a lot of people about credit by exam and I want to be able to give people good advice when they ask about whether or not Unbound is a good deal. But I want to hear all of your opinions about it! Am I missing something?

"Courses" cannot be regionally accredited - only schools can. So that premise makes no sense whatsoever.

I contacted them because they advertised on my FB page and I wanted to see what they had to offer. Keeping in mind that I have been in sales my entire career, I felt like the immediate contact from a representative was a bit much. I expect an automated email when I fill out an online form, but the email from the real sales rep came moments later.
She was very nice, so no complaints there, but I couldn't get much info from her - I needed to set up a call. Sooo.. after a little back and forth, I decided to walk away and request no more contact. I wish I could have tolerated the sales pitch, but it felt so desperate and "churn and burn" style. It was just too much for me to take them seriously.
Such a shame because it makes the whole thing seem WAY less legitimate and very sketchy. And sad to say that I am a good prospect for them. I just wanted it to feel more professional. But, I'm on a whole other topic LOL - I'm not talking price or anything like that. Just that if you're going to push anything other than the 4-year traditional school, you should act like a professional and inspire confidence.

"Every course we offer is regionally transcripted. This allows these courses to transfer to virtually any college that accepts transfer credit"
That is from their FAQ. So maybe they are now a regionally accredited institution?

Ah. So it looks like they have a partner college that they put the courses through (or the school itself offers these courses through Lumerit). Westcott offers their courses this way a well - they have online self-paced courses that then get transcripted to United States University or Brandman College (depending on the course).
It would be good to know what the school is (schools are) that these courses are offered through.

Any chance you'd show us the chat transcript? If they are claiming to offer regionally accredited courses, I'll personally file the BBB complaint. Are you sure they didn't say that they are offering ACE approved courses? (that would be accurate) To say their courses are "regionally transcripted" is double talk. To assert that their courses will transfer is a bold-faced lie. So, have things changed? Potentially it's worse.
Here's the thing EVEN IF you had 45 unlimited courses, they are just the provider. You still have to use them in a degree (Lumerit will direct you to TESU or Liberty) and complete a distribution of credit. You won't be able to take 40 courses through them - it doesn't work that way.
I think this thread ALREADY explains the reasons for and against using a program like this, so we don't have to beat a dead horse. Respectfully, giving people good advice follows having a good understanding yourself, and you're not quite there. You need to be able to unbias yourself and sort through the marketing so you can boil it down. When you can do that, you'll be able to understand exactly what makes them different and exactly what makes them the same.
PS they only have 17 ACE-evaluated courses (which is more than their earlier 5 but no where near Study, Straighterline, Shmoop, or Saylor) http://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseactio...CE=1007351
