I'm leaning towards seeking a BSBA Management at TESC. Years ago I took Elementary Algebra and Intermediate Algebra but I have never taken College Algebra. I few months ago I planned to take the CLEP for it, studied some through online resources such as InstantCert and Kahn but I was a bit overwhelmed never felt comfortable enough to take the CLEP.
I'm looking for a good option to get this credit with more guided study and hopefully without having my entire grade or pass/fail based only on a single test. Obviously I could go the community college route but maybe there are other options to explore?
Maybe a self guided College Algebra course from Straighterline?

So I've been reading up on this the past hour and this does indeed look like it could be a great way for me to go. Thank you so much!

I I signed up for ALEKS, took the assessment (slowly), and scored a 72. With a 72 I think that means I'm done! I signed up at ACE and requested the credit. It currently says "Pending Organizational Review" but hopefully I'll have College Algebra in my rear view mirror very soon! Thank you so much. Few hours of time and my problem appears to be fixed.

Glad you loved ALEKS. I think it's the best way to go even if you want to keep working it to above 90% if you are math, science, or engineering major, and you have many more math needed courses to go.
If you get the ACE credit just based on the "assessment" module, please let us know. This would turn out to be be the shortest CBE on the planet!
Thanks and Good Luck!

It actually is that simple. All you have to do is score 70% or above on an assessment and you earn credit. I did it for Intermediate Algebra and I'm trying to do it for College Algebra now. Even though the initial assessment is around 35 questions, it took me longer to finish it than a CLEP or DSST that's around 100 questions. Well, it is math and that takes awhile to work out.

I don't think it's that simple...technically you have to reach a percentage of 70% on your progress bar according to Aleks's customer service rep. A student can not just score 70% or higher on test and just get credit merely for that. It is the progress bar that needs a minimum of 70% not the test score.
#But I hope your right, bc this would be much easier to achieve.

Getting a 70% or higher on an assessment bumps the progress bar to 70% or higher because you've demonstrated that you know that much of the material. On the other hand, working up to at least 70% on the progress bar will not work. You have to assess at 70%. I forgot which color is which, but one color indicates that you've done a certain percentage of problems. That will not get you credit. You have to prove you know the material by testing above 70%.
I've already done this for Intermediate Algebra and I'm doing it now for College Algebra. My initial assessment was at 68% and that is where my progress bar is at. I can't just work off the extra 2%. I have to assess again at or above 70%.

So, all I need to do is sign up for aleks's college algebra course, score a 70% and then pass this on to ACE and I have the TESC required college algebra credit? Do they proctor the assessment in any way? how do they know it is me doing the assessment and not someone else?
Working towards TESC ASBA, then a BSBA General Management
