$20,000 out of state. hardly cheap by any standards.

Not for this particular degree. It's a very bare bones General Studies degree with a set-in-stone curriculum, at $75/credit.

They will take 30cr of AP/CLEP/DSST exam credit; and then they will take 60cr of transfer.  So for someone who has CC or other RA credit already, this degree could come in MUCH cheaper: 30cr x $75/cr = $2,250.

I agree. It's a perfect check-the-box degree. Sometimes that's really all you need. And it's also a great way to move on to a non-competitive master's program without already being mired in debt..

Ashworth College (DEAC accredited) is $65 per credit hour, and allows for the transfer of 75% of a degree (requiring 15 hours for an Associate's, and 30 hours for a Bachelor's degree in residence). It is fully online and they accept ACE approved courses for transfer.

I think it's a good point.  Most people who are simply looking for a "check the box" degree shouldn't mind if it's DEAC accredited.  In the vast majority of cases it won't matter in any way.  And if it actually does matter then maybe a check the box degree is not exactly what you're looking for.  In any case, it's good that there are inexpensive options.  What's left at an even cheaper price
(I think) is the University of the People and after that I think you're going to have to go to someplace like South Africa if you want something cheaper still.

I ended up paying $49 per credit (including upper levels) at UMPI.

Did my entire degree for $2,800 + Sophia.

yeah, but if someone paid for 60 credits to transfer in and 30 credits of exam then the degree isn't really $2,250

But it's not just $2250. You have to those other 90 credits already. If they're RA credit or community college credit (wouldn't those be RA?), you've probably already paid out a significant amount of $$$. I think the key word in the above is COULD. This degree COULD be cheaper than the Big 3, WGU, or UMPI. It's also just a plain ole general studies degree. Most people on here have an area on which they focus view a major, minor, specialization, whatever the school labels it.
