Charter Oak preliminary transcript review!!! ....thoughts?
#1
Hi all,

I got my "preliminary transcript review" from COSC. Still waiting on TESC.

It's honestly better than I thought. Also, I think I pick the wrong major? I blindly picked "Business Admin. General Business." but I think it would be easier to transfer to a General Studies B.A....or even Information Systems? in either COSC or TESC I've e-mailed my advisor.

One thing I'm a bit confused about, it "Algebra" and "Business Math" both went in to cover Liberal Arts courses, and have credit hours, but I still need a College Algebra credit? REALLY do not want to take any more math classes.

Anyways, would love your thoughts. Still waiting on TESC transcript review, but to review my situation :

I am in CHINA and have terrible internet. ProctorU tests don't even load. (yikes)
I will likely have to use a scanning service for books I cannot get via .PDF (i'm fine with this)
I am busy, but I think I could knock out at least 9 credits per semester.
Due to low finances, I would have to wait until Chinese holidays to fly to Japan and do blocks of test-outs. (also fine with this)

I got approved for a good Pell Grant. Good news.

Would changing my major help me? Review attached!

Thought, please! Confusedeeya::willynilly:

Here's a google drive link of the PDF : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx6Z7kI...sp=sharing

Well, the bad news with TESC: if you want a BSBA (either General Mgmt or CIS), you have to take College Algebra and Statistics (anything lower than College Algebra including Beginning or Intermediate Algebra won't count towards that requirement). If you want a BSAST in Technical Studies or IT (which would utilize more of your technical courses), you will have to take those plus Precalc & Physics I & II).

If you don't want any additional math courses, I suggest you switch to BA in Liberal Studies. It's the most generic and easy to test out of, and does not require higher math.

Someone else can probably help with COSC, since I don't know their requirements.

Right. I don't know why I picked a BS in GM when signing up. I will switch to a BA in General Studies or whatever fits my transfer credits best. I've asked about the computer-related field.

The goal is the easiest + quickest degree possible with the most opportunity to skirt Proctored tests.

Also, I'd want financial aid each semester, and from what I understand TESC's "pay per credit" doesn't give it to you.

Thanks!

John, your journey is extremely similar to mine. I've got a Associates in Network administration and I'm looking to finish a Bachelors asap. I'm very interested in seeing what you figure out. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not an expert by any means on COSC's IS concentration but I think it's possible your Systems Analysis course might meet one of the requirements for the concentration and that some of your other courses could meet the electives requirement. That would be more than what you currently have with Business. What does your advisor say?

I have no idea why your math credits don't fill the math requirement. Perhaps because your Algebra class is 2, not 3....? That would be a question for your advisor as well.

If you did decide to switch to COSC's IS program you would have to take Introduction to Statistics. If you are really set on not taking more math classes that is something you should consider when choosing your degree.
Goal: BA in American Studies - COSC (103/120)
In Progress: -
Completed - Straighterline: US History 2
CLEP - American Literature

Associate of Arts - COSC (August 31st, 2014)
Classes used to complete it:
Liberty University Classes: English 101, English 102, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Introduction to Probability & Statistics
Advanced Placement: Art History
Straighterline Classes: Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Biology (w/ Lab), Personal Finance, Business Ethics, Introduction to Religion, American Government, Cultural Anthropology, Introduction to Nutrition, Introduction to Communications, U.S. History 1
CLEP: Analyzing & Interpreting Literature
COSC: Cornerstone

Good to know. Thank You. I e-mailed my advisor, but no word back yet.

A pity about the Math. Maybe it will be covered with that more general BA.

We'll see how it all plays out and i'll post again. Smile

I've decided to enroll in the University of Montana's online Media Arts program.

Having crap internet, these proctored test-outs are not going to work for me.

Also, the cost is pretty much a wash if I only do half as test-outs.

So, unless something changes. This is what I'm going for.

I'll keep an eye on you all! Cheers.
