Certified Nursing Assistant Credits
#1
Hello,
Has anyone had TESU accept CNA credits toward a degree? I have 7 credits earned from my CC for the course leading to state certification, and I'm wondering if they have been accepted as free electives, or not at all.
Thanks!

If it was a 7 credit course, you'll get free elective credit - just send your transcripts! If it was 7 CEU credit hours, you won't get anything.

This sounds like a course, rather than "CNA credit." Getting credit for taking college courses is a given. Getting credit for a certification is not.

My suggestion is when you apply, enroll and transfer courses for credit at TESU, ask that question.
I did a search/skim through their website, it came up with this The Office for Assessment of Professional and Workplace Learning

However, that's only 2 credits from the looks of things, I'm not sure how they would grant/rate your CNA.
The name of the cert is similar but could mean a completely different amount of credits, only TESU will know.
I am guessing it should transfer, but the amount may not be exactly "7" credits... I hope it'll be closer to 7 though.

One more thing, since you've got ALEKS, you may want to continue getting more credits from them.
My suggestion is to get College Algebra and Precalc OR Trigonometry as extra gen ed credits for your degree.
Good luck on your education.

Yes I had a CNA course from my community college and it was put under free electives when I transferred in. I barely applied a few months ago so this is how they used them when I applied.
