Center that does not charge proctor fee
#1
I live in central Tennessee, but am close to both Alabama and Georgia border. Currently all centers close to me charge between $25.00 to $40.00 for a proctor fee for clep and dantes. Does anyone know of a testing center in my area that waives the proctor fee? Any help would be appreciated.

Just a FYI, all the test centers in CA charge for the proctor, unless you are enrolled in the college. AND, they charge between $25 to $250 (yep). So $25 to $40 doesn't sound too bad Smile

I have been to or checked testing centers in NY, NJ, PA, SC, and Florida all of them charged a proctoring fee ranging from $15-$100. I have never heard of a center that doesn't charge a fee.

You may want to investigate Devry University. They did not charge a Proctoring fee when I last took tests there. It is the only testing center I am aware of that does not charge for this service.

Excellent advice! I take all my exams at DeVry since they don't charge a fee.

It would take them a bit of work to set up with DSST, and they might not be able to be set up with CLEP, but also for reference for other proctored exams where permissible, you might want to try your employer or a family member's employer's training or human resource office (or perhaps general manager if they do the equivalent), or a friendly library, high school, or church.

Bellhaven College has several campuses. They only administer the DSST...but there is no proctor fee. There is a campus in Atlanta and another in Chatanooga. My daughter was offered cookies at her last exam here in Orlando...Very pleasant people! I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

To be honest, a $25 fee doesn't sound too bad. You're paying for the cost of the center, computers, proctor, utilities, etc. Also, if you are willing to drive out of state, consider the cost of gasoline and wear and tear on your vehicle, it will probably cost as much as the proctor fee. Also, don't forget to add the cost of your time and what you can do with the extra 2 hrs driving back and forth. Just my two cents.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Under normal circumstances $25.00 wouldn't seem much, but since I lost 12 hours to my local cc, I need to make up 4 tests to graduate, plus two UL for a total of six x $80.00 pop plus two courses at TESC this summer, plus my son's $3,000.00 plus enrollment fee and graduation fee, plus his $1250.00 worth of classes and books for the last two months (I would like to get something out of this myself after expanding all of this over the past few months with him. I know six x $25.00 doesn't seem like much but when you add the test fee and all these other costs its adding up and mama always goes last as we all know. Oh well, just thought I'd ask. I'll check out Bellhaven. Thanks.
