I was curious because I noticed that the BA in Mathematics and BA in Computer Science have similar requirements and I could see a capstone covering the material from both as the subjects can overlap.

I don't know about the two area of study thing, but the subject of your capstone is not constrained in any way by your area of study. If a history major wants to write about Fermat's last theorem, or a math major do a paper about social responsibility, there's nothing to stop them.
Of course these topics tend to be slippery. Fermat is an historical figure after all, and social responsibility could get into statistics and how they are applied.

I was busy when this thread originally came up.
You only need one liberal arts capstone for two areas of study. When they do your eval for two areas of study, you have two evals (it used to be a single eval). One eval for the first AOS and another eval for the second AOS. Each eval will have its own GE section and liberal arts capstone section, but those sections will be nearly identical. You don't take the GE courses twice and you don't take the capstone twice. I also have email from advising that only one capstone is needed for two AOS.
Math and CS is a great combination since they share two LL and one UL course.
