Can taking TECEPs reduce TESU's cost?

I am working on a BA in History at TESU. I have only a few required UL courses remaining to take, and plan to use various outside sources of credit. I have the study.com discount, but tuition is still high. I saw a very old post here saying that someone was able to avoid paying some large fees by instead taking several extra TECEPs, saying these count as credits earned within TESU, and the exam fees were lower than the residency fees. Is this still a way to reduce costs?

No, they changed that almost two years ago. You used to be able to take 24cr of TECEPs to gain residency, now you only need 16cr, but only actual courses count, so it's cheaper to pay the waiver fee.

Don't count them out just because they changed the requirements.  Remember, you still need TESU credits to maintain enrollment (basically one course per year) and TECEPs count for that. They're still way cheaper than other course options, so they do have a use if you plan to take more than a year to complete your degree. 

They are also less hassle compared to CLEP and other credit by exam programs.  Although you'll pay about $30 more and have to deal with ProctorU stupidity, you do get the luxury of doing them literally whenever you want in the comfort of your own home.

I'd say at a minimum the ENC-101, ENC-102 and CIS-107 are fast, painless credits.
