Ever since
this story, which happened 2 blocks away from me, I've been so scared to leave the house or even be in the house alone...last night I was up till 1 - I know, it sounds like I'm a baby but I don't know what to do

This child was taken from the street. It was not a break in. It just goes to show all of us it can happen anywhere and to anyone of us. Just be aware of your surrounds. Try to go out with someone when you leave the house if you are concerned. Carry pepper spray and always have your cell phone available. If you get a weird feeling about someone, trust your instincts and get away fast. The story about this little 8 year old boy is just very sad.

What the hell was the guy thinking???
I don't know what I would do (well I think I do) if that were to happen to my 8 year old. Indeed, very sad story. I make sure my wife always carries her pepper spray and her Beretta or Walther P99 (with license) every where she goes without me.
Purpleteen, I know the feeling. We had a serial child rapist in our area for a few months until he was caught. Everyone was on high alert until then. It can happen anywhere.
