Can someone explain to me registering for TECEPS and not taking them?
#1
Hello,

I am working on finishing my degree through TESU.  I posted my degree plan a bit ago, and on the advice of some folks in that thread I applied to TESU to see what would actually transfer in.  I am glad I did!  I am still in the middle of some back and forth, but it is certainly making me change a few things around in my plan.

I had seen some others mention in a few threads that people should register for a TECEP and not take it as a means of "locking in" your catalog year.  Can anyone explain that to me more?  Do I just schedule a test and then never show up?  I have never taken a TECEP, so I have no idea how it works.  Do I repeat this every session?  Every... some amount of time?

Thanks

Once a year.

You register for the TECEP just like a regular course (it's silly), and you can choose the 1cr Medical Terminology exam. Then, you just pretend like it doesn't exist.

TECEP exams are taken from home, online. But there's nothing more to be done if you're not going to take it.

If you want, you can use it as a way to test the proctoring system (ProctorU). This is totally optional, however, and if you do decide to take the test it doesn't matter if you actually pass or not. The important part is paying for the exam whether or not it is taken/passed.

Interesting. Does this also make count as "enrolled," and also eligible to do additional transcript evaluations? IE, I can just bring in my Sophia/SDC credits as I finish them?

Yes - which is one of the reasons we tell people to do this.

Yep. If you register today for a TECEP for the March term, your status would change to enrolled on March 10th or 11th (officially, it's the 10th but it might not show up online until the 11th). There are a couple more perks of enrollment as outlined here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Th..._to_Enroll

Please note that if you do not take exam, I believe you can register again for same one each time, but if you do take it and pass, then you cannot retake same TECEP one.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes - which is one of the reasons we tell people to do this.

so how does "enrolled" in protagonist's post apply to this
https://www.tesu.edu/tuition/flat-rate-tuition

"Students registering for fewer than 9 credits per term will continue to be enrolled under Per Credit Tuition"

"Per Credit Undergraduate Tuition
Out-of-state Residents: $519"

so you're paying $519 for a one credit TECEP to maintain your enrollment status ?
