Can someone double check my work :)
#1
It's nearing that time where I'll be sending my transcripts over to UMPI so I was just wondering if someone could make sure I'm not forgetting any classes or misunderstanding anything. Below I will list all the requirements for the BA in Criminal Justice and how I plan to meet them.

1-A  Composition I - CCRI
1-B  Composition II - Will take at UMPI
1-C  *Conflict Resolution* - Sophia
1-D  Composition I - CCRI
2-A  Intro to Ethics - Sophia
2-B  General Psychology - CCRI
2-C  Composition II - Will take at UMPI
2-D  Creative Decision Making - Will take at UMPI
2-E  Art History I - Sophia
3-A  Intro to Statistics - Sophia
3-B  Intro to Statistics - Sophia
3-C  Human Biology - Sophia
3-D  Intro to Environmental Science - Sophia
3-E  Intro to Meteorology - Study
4-A  *College Readiness* - Sophia
4-B  Composition II - Will take at UMPI
4-C  Ancient Greek Philosophers - Sophia
5-A  Intro to Sociology - Sophia
5-B  U.S. History I - Sophia
5-C  Spanish I - InstantCert
5-D  Ancient Greek Philosophers - Sophia
5-E  Constitutional Law - CCRI

*On the wiki page Conflict Resolutions says it transfers as Organizational Communication but on UMPI's transfer course page it says it comes in as a business elective. Any word on that? I can take American Government on InstantCert if not.

*College Readiness on the UMPI transfer page says it comes in as First Year Seminar, can anyone confirm?

CRIMINAL JUSTICE ELECTIVES (Pick Two):

Drug Policy:
Restorative Justice and Community Based Corrections:
Constitutional Law: Constitutional Law - CCRI
Criminal Procedure: Criminal Procedure - CCRI

CRIMINAL JUSTICE REQUIREMENTS:

Intro to Criminal Justice: Intro to Law Enforcement - CCRI
Research Methods in CJ: Will take at UMPI
CJ Ethics: Will take at UMPI
Criminology: Criminology - CCRI
Criminal Law: Criminal Law - CCRI
Juvenile Justice/Delinquency: Will take at UMPI
Police and Policing: Will take at UMPI
Punishment and Correction: Will take at UMPI
Crime Control Policies: Will Take at UMPI
Theoretical Criminology: Will take at UMPI
Business Communication: *Presentation Skills in Workplace*
Social Psychology: Social Psychology - Study
Field Experience: Capstone, will take at UMPI

*Presentation Skills in Workplace says it will transfer in as Business Communication on UMPI course transfer page as well as fulfill the GLO1-C requirement but  it is approved for credit by NCCRS, NOT by ACE. Does UMPI accept NCCRS?

Extra Classes I've taken that will be used to meet 90 credits exactly

Readings in the Short Story - CCRI
Law and Society- CCRI
History of the U.S. from 1877 - CCRI
Intro to Theatre - CCRI
Criminalistics - CCRI
Intro to Psychology - Sophia
Visual Communications - Sophia
The Essentials of Managing Conflict - Sophia *ONE CREDIT*
Developing Effective teams - Sophia *ONE CREDIT*
Intro to IT - Sophia
Art History II - Sophia
U.S. History II - Sophia

If you've read this far, thank you. It's also worth noting that I can take Juvenile Justice and Delinquency on Study as well as American Government on InstantCert if I do end up having to add Business Communication to my UMPI list.

IIRC, 4A is covered by a required no-credit orientation course that all UMPI students must take. If you've already taken College Readiness, that's fine. If you haven't, I wouldn't bother. For 1C, I would take American Government at InstantCert. The wiki's pages on UMPI need a good updating, which I keep meaning to do.

Just as a reminder: anyone is free to edit the wiki if they have the knowledge and ability to do so. I may be the one who does most of the edits, but that doesn't mean I'm the only one who is allowed to edit it. Things sometimes slip my mind and I may forget to add or remove something. Smile
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Unfortunately I have already taken College Readiness, so that's a bummer. I was really hoping to escape the University Experience course haha.

As far as taking American Government for 1C goes, I just checked and my Business Communication core requirement also satisfies the 1C requirement so I'm good there. Just comes down to if UMPI will accept my NCCRS accredited Presentation Skills in the Workplace course. I know they didn't used to, but there has to be a reason their page suggests it will count right?

Not sure if that link will work but it says that Presentation Skills in the Workplace will transfer as Business Communication but I fear that UMPI's chart is outdated and maybe the course was ACE accredited when this was made but has since lost it's ACE accreditation.

There is also another Study.com course titled "Business Communication" that only converts to a Business Elective so I'm curious as to if they made a mistake when creating the page and this was supposed to be the equivalent and not the NCCRS course.

You don't need College Readiness. You will take a no credit YourPace orientation that fills 4A. You have to take this even if you transfer in College Readiness.

I would contact UMPI and confirm Meteorology will fill the lab science requirement. I really think that is an error.

You can take American Government from InstantCert to fill 1C and 5E. What is CCRI? American Government makes more sense than Presentation Skills for a CJ major.

Conflict Resolution transfers as BUS1XX which makes it a 100 level business elective. It doesn't fill anything on the GEC. I just checked the transfer database and this is what it's showing. According to the UMPI catalog they accept ACE. There's a section for ACE in the transfer database but not one for NCCRS. I don't find Presentation Skills for the Workplace in the UMPI transfer database.

Do you know who I should reach out to for Meteorology? I can take American Government but since Business Communication is a core requirement and satisfies 1C anyway it would just be one less class. I already have 5E filled with Constitutional Law.

My apologies, CCRI stands for Community College of Rhode Island. Just wondering, what database are you using? I've been using UMPI's Maine Street link where it has Presentation Skills in Workplace listed. I genuinely have no idea which is more up to date.

Disregard, I just found the link Ashkir provided. It looks like maybe Presentation Skills in Workplace was once ACE accredited but has since lost it. Looks like I'll be taking Business Communication at UMPI since nobody offers an equivalent.

I'll take study.com's Juvenile Justice and Delinquency class to make up for it. The course is UL though so should I save it for UMPI since there's an UL requirement or does it not matter if I take my UL courses in-house?

I would contact the Registrar's Office about the lab science requirement. I confirm with them that the meteorology course will fill it.

You will need to complete the majority of your UL courses at UMPI along with at least 30 credits.

Presentation Skills in Workplace was never ACE-recommended for credit.

So just a typo from UMPI? Or did they used to accept NCCRS?

I think it's accepted by sending in a SDC transcript directly, because it IS listed on the SDC transfer page as "Professional Communication 215: Business Communication"

Even though it's not ACE recommended? I'm just glad you see what I'm talking about and I'm not just losing it.
