Hello,

I am looking for breakdowns of test in any health care field degree plan as I want to earn degree quickly as possible.My goal for future is to go in nursing field so I wan a earn Bachelor degree in non nursing field and then go on to as a 2nd degree BSN program. I already wasted so much time and not I want to go back to school and earn education so it would be really nice if someone provide me help guide as i don't have anyone to guide not don't know where to get help from.

Sure! You can do a BA in Liberal Arts, but be sure to fill your requirements with everything that will be part of the nursing prereq list. If I can suggest you NOT test out of nursing prereqs, you'll keep yourself competitive. Use CLEP for your other gen eds. Take classes (and earn top grades) in Bio 1 with lab, Chem 1 with lab, Anatomy and Physiology with Lab 1 and 2, English Comp 1 and 2, Intro to Psych, and Intro to Soc. If possible, consider taking college algebra for a grade, and add in stats for good measure. If you search the archives, I think I did an outline several years back on this exact topic. I agree with Cookderosa. There is a gluttony of people pursuing nursing degrees, so entry has become extremely competitive. Many (if not most) programs want to see a GPA for your science prerequisites. Some won't even accept science labs done online or by correspondence.

But some will. I was accepted into all 3 programs I applied to , and 1 had a "waitlist" of over a year- all my sciences were online, BUT I called ahead and knew that going into the pool. It really depends on the area. I had a list of well over 10 other programs that were outside my immediate area that I could have applied to that also accepted online science (as long as graded and regionally accredited). The trick is -as always- do your homework.

This information does not really answer your question but it might be useful.

There are a few factors to consider. How close to earning a BS degree are you? How many nursing programs are in your area (ASN or BSN)? Does the school that is offering the 2nd degree program also have an upper entry program?

If the school offers an upper entry program you could knock out an AA degree instead of a BS. Incorporate your nursing prereqs into the degree plan. Apply to the nursing program as a junior.

I am a few credits shy of a BSLS from Excelsior; though, I am about to start an ASN program. In my area we have an acclerated second degree BSN, several upper entry BSN programs and about seven ASN programs. In my opinion, the fastest route to RN is the best way to go (taking into account regional and NLN accreditation). Many people do not realize that entry into most MSN programs requires two things, 1) that you are an RN 2) that you have a bachelor's degree, it does not have to be in nursing. Having said that, there are some nurse practitioner programs that do not require you to be a nurse.
