Take the subject GRE and score in the 80+ percentile and Excelsior will grant you 30 credits, enough for the entire Major. It will cost you a whopping $140 for the chance to earn 30 credits.

Son #1 TESC BSBA Computer Information Systems completed June 2010
Son #2 TESC BA Computer Science completed November 2010 Currently in Florida State (FSU) Masters CS program and loving it

My church is having a book sale and there is a huge book for review for all the general GRE exams. The book is a few years old but it would only cost a dollar. Would it be out of date?? I have never looked into GRE's.

Yes 30 credits for the scores he stated for any of the GRE subject tests...there is no English subject test, the closest is one for Lit. Tests are 10/18 and then again in Nov sometime then not again til April 09
If you poke around the page Geezer linked to they should have an example of the test.
Linda the general tests are like SATs but for getting into graduate school

So has anyone confirmed with Excelsior that this GRE Literature in English exam would cover all the requirements for an Excelsior degree in Literature in English? How much would they charge you since you wouldn't be taking any classes or exams directly through Excelsior? This sounds too good to be true, I have to make some calls tomorrow.

I did it myself for the GRE in Sociology back in 1987/88. The 30 semester credits were enough for me to get my degree. Now,the GRE Subject in Sociology is no longer offered.

Since we are on the topic of GRE Subject Exams, besides Excelsior two other schools will also award credit for it.
Charter Oak will award 18 credits with a score of 40%. This is half of their Literature concentration. CLEP Analyzing & Interpreting Literature is another 6 credits. That leaves 12 credits that must be taken with classes.
Empire State College will also award credit. Up to 36 credits actually (at the 96% I believe). They do have a residency requirement so I doubt you are looking at them. Still, for the sake of completeness it bears mentioning.

Management, Accounting, Marketing, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics
DSST exams passed:
Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, Statistics, Management Information Systems
Earned:
B.A. in Business Administration: Technology Management from Saint Leo University
M.S. in Leadership: Business Ethics from Duquesne University [/SIZE]
