CSU-Pueblo - ENG 101 meets Excelsior WER
#1
All,
It was suggested that I create a separate thread for this subject.

I've confirmed today with my business adviser that the CSU-Pueblo Eng 101 online course will satisfy the Excelsior Written English Requirement.
Colorado State University-Pueblo > Division of Continuing Education > Independent Study > English > Compostion I

Cost is $297.
Exam Requirements:
"There are no “exams.” The grade is based entirely on five essays. Each assignment is worth 200 points which includes points for the prewriting exercises, the revising/editing, and the final paper."

The reason I am taking this online course is that I can register at any time, work at my own pace, and since I am working overseas, it's much easier than worrying about a proctored exam (especially a LONG essay exam from Excelsior, my handwriting sucks, but I can type like the wind Wink

I'm waiting on the instructor to contact me with the syllabus etc.
I'll update my thoughts/progress/outcome here.

p.s. thanks to Auminer49r for the heads up on this program. I was actually planning to fly to the USA just to take the Excelsior 6 credit exam on a PC to avoid writing it out and waiting for the long scoring reply...

ridin8ude,

I am especially eager to hear your feedback on this course since I will likely be taking it in the next month or so (after I complete CSU's Operations Management course).

As an aside...if anyone is nervous about a graded English course affecting their GPA, I want to put the following PASS/FAIL course out there too:

English 101

- University of Idaho.
- No exams.
- 5 Essays (plus pre-writing assignments).
- $325 (in-state and out).

Other than it being a pass/fail course, another major difference between the Colorado State University and the University of Idaho's English course is that this UI course has a limit on the number of assignments that can be submitted (2 at a time, and 6 per week). CSU, on the other hand, has NO LIMIT on how fast you can go.

Hope that helps,
Snazzlefrag
My name is Rob
