CSU Global

I am thinking of trying to switch to the TESU BSBA in Healthcare Management.

The problem is that I absolutely cannot stand Study dot com. If I have to take one more course on there I am going to just lose my mind. I see also that SDC does not offer all of these UL requirements listed for the Healthcare Mgmt AOS.

I read on some of the threads that CSU Global has some of the below courses. Does anyone have experience with them? What are their courses like, what's the format? I know they're more expensive, but I really don't care at this point, I can only take one class per month at Study anyway, so for me it wouldn't be that much of an increase. Thank you everyone for any input.

The TESU website lists these as the AOS courses:

  • Principles of Healthcare Management

  • Healthcare Legal and Ethical Considerations

  • Health Services Policy

  • Human Resource Management for Healthcare Systems

  • The Financing and Economics of Healthcare Delivery

  • Healthcare Qualities and Outcomes: Measurement and Management

  • Human Resource Management for Healthcare Organizations

Have you looked into Coopersmith? They have a lot of UL courses and are basically studying PowerPoint slides and taking the exam. If I’d found them earlier, I would’ve taken as many courses as I could from them.

You could take a list of what you think might fit into your program at TESU and send to an advisor and they’ll let you know what they’ll come in as. Hope that helps!

Another alternative option to Coopersmith is Davar Academy for their Business Class membership - $99/6 credits (2 exams). If you're switching say your Health Management to a General Management option, those courses would fit nicely and properly. I think you mentioned you only needed like 2 more UL or something.

Thanks Suzy - Coopersmith doesn't offer any of the courses I need, unfortunately.

Thanks BJ - I am currently in a BSBA HR and I am thinking of switching to the Healthcare Management one. I'm trying to find a last ditch reason to keep going on my BSBA at TESU before I either just graduate with an ASBA and forget about school for a while, or else try to do something like WGU as Bluebooger suggested above. I don't have the money to throw down for 2 semesters at WGU right now though, so if I don't graduate at TESU then I won't be going back for several years.

I just wanted people's experience with those CSU Global CBE's to see what the study material was like and whether they felt it was adequate to pass the course.

Maybe you could try one self study course and see how it goes. If you access the website via computer, they're offering to waive the application fee. Doesn't show up on my phone, though.

I assume CBE stands for credit by exam. CSU Global no longer lets you enroll in an exam by itslef. This has been documented. You have to drop $1k on a course in order to take an SSA.

I would contact CSU-Global to ask about taking an SSA on it's own, and if it's possible to do so, then take one to see. I've heard nothing but good things about the materials they give you to study for the exams.

I know for certain that TESU doesn't take all of the Study.com HCA courses to meet their requirements, so you would HAVE to take them somewhere else anyway.

In my humble opinion, from years of doing degree planning and looking at transcripts, the NUMBER ONE reason people don't finish their degrees is from changing majors. If you were my friend and I was advising you (or my daughter, and I was paying for your degree and had a lot of sway), I would say finish the HR degree and move on. You are better off getting 6 courses in a degree you don't absolutely love than getting derailed entirely and not finishing your degree. Honestly, my advice now to people on HS4CC is to research your degree carefully, and then pick one and stay with it and graduate. You can do something else later if you want, but the difference between a degree in BSBA/HR and one in BSBA/HCM isn't going to make or break anything the way a degree in nothing and a degree in HCM will. Don't get sidetracked. Just finish.

I just emailed CSU Global, so we'll see what they say. It would be nice to at least get some additional context because this is the first I've heard of having to pay $1000 to take a self study exam. It would also be nice to know when that started.

I would also like to say, "Sarah, please finish." The difference between you and someone else will be that you jumped through the hoops. It will be worth it.

They don't let you take SSA's by themsleves. unless something has changed since November.

Thank you for reaching out.

Students must take a regular course with a SSA. You cannot enroll just for a SSA by itself. Are there any other courses that you need to take? You do also have the option to take the Auditing course as a stand alone course as a non degree seeking option.

The SSA would show up as credit on your transcript.

Thank you for completing your application I see that we have received that on our end.

Please do let me know if you have any additional questions or how you would like to proceed. I can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Best Regards
