I have been looking around the internet trying to find an online Korean class for credit for a decent price. Not many schools have Korean, but I managed to come by CSN. I was doing awesome in the class with 2 missed assignments. 1 assignment was missed due to a funeral out of state and the teacher agreed to accept it late (which she never actually graded by the end of the semester). Even with both assignments not being graded I had an average of 96%. The problem was the final day of exams.
There was a 24hr period of time on a Monday that was available for 2 required exams (the last unit exam plus an accumulative final). I missed both due to work resulting in my grade dropping to not much over 60%.
I work in a blood bank 12hr shifts doing overnight duty. I'm usually scheduled to work Sunday overnights and Monday overnights with no issue having time to do school work (at home or at work). The problem is during both shifts there were multiple emergency situations involving bleeding patients. I ended up staying about 16hrs each night before having to take the 1.5hr bus ride home. I got maybe 3hrs of sleep after Sunday shift to go right back to another 16 hr emergency shift.
As soon as I got home Tuesday morning I emailed my instructor and explained the situation. She said I could take the exams with a proctor with a note from work. However, my boss was on vacation that week and was not available, so I had the co-worker I worked with both nights right a letter and signed it. This apparently was not good enough, and the instructor refused to allow me to retake the exams.
At this point I was just going to retake the whole class to get a better grade. HOWEVER, I get an email from the school saying that people from x,y, & z states are no longer allowed to take online classes with CSN for the time being. I, of course, live in one of the new banned states so I can no longer try to re-take the class. The message stated to reply back if there were any questions and that she would work with the student about their concerns. This person told me she could not help me if I was living in one of the banned states and to try to file for a grade appeal.
So far, my emails about the grade appeal have been unanswered after 3 weeks now. My thoughts now are to either just wait it out and hope to retake the class with CSN or hope that I can have the grade replaced for Korean by another class elsewhere.
BYU Independent has a Korean class. Could the grade of this class replace he grade I received at CSN? My plan was to transfer the Korean class to TESC or Excelsior, but with a D in the class I don't want my GPA to drop because of this one crazy incident.
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Sorry for the long post![Sad Sad](https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/images/smilies/sad.png)
Thanks everyone!
