Any thoughts whether an Associates degree is easier to obtain from COSC than TESU, especially given the residency waiver increase? Link of older threads about this ? Thanks!

COSC
Assuming that you bring in 57cr, you would have to pay $1131 for the cornerstone and then additional costs, bringing the total to $1738. TESU Assuming that you bring in 60cr, you would have to pay $300 for the cornerstone, and then the residency waiver of $2500, with a total cost of $2898. Assuming that you are a Study.com member, and that you bring in 60cr, you could skip the cornerstone, and the residency waiver would be $1800. Total cost $2198. The only reasons to go with TESU would be ease & speed - no cornerstone, so that would save you a couple of months. But you would be paying $460 for that time savings (might be worth it).

You have another option, if you are transferring 60 credits into an Associates BOG.
West Virginia has several colleges that grant these really cheap, seriously cheap... Look up WVUP, WVNCC, and Pierpont, there might be more as WV has 9 Colleges.

Thanks a lot, that is very helpful. Last question: I need a GPA. Is the cornerstone at COSC graded? If so, is it doable to get an A?

This probably won't work for you because most schools don't accept nationally acredited degrees, but my younger son will be attending Penn Foster for his associates degree as long as they continue to have an articulation agreement with WGU. He'll go in needing only 15 credits to graduate which will cost about $1200. They do have a GPA.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following:
Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1 Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of Marketing, Corporate Communication Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this) ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems Sophia: Project Management WGU: Bachelors in HR Management Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

Nevermind, I found several reviews of the COSC cornerstone on this forum.

It was quite doable for the A (although there are several different teachers for this course, so I can't speak for them all).

Hi rowan555, When you mention "most schools don't accept nationally acredited degrees" what does that mean? I ask since I need a GPA like the OP as I am looking at grad school after TESU and don't want to fowl anything up.

Wow, I didn't know it was that expensive for Assoc at COSC (and more for TESU). Nearly the same as Bachelors I guess, with the main difference being the capstone.

In addition, Straighterline courses are graded at COSC. COSC also requires a lab science that TESU does not. We are teetering between them too, but what will eventually push us to one vs the other, is where/what my son wants to get his bachelor's. |
