COSC degree plan arrived but I am still full of questions.
#1
The degree plan arrived but it does not tell me if any of my existing credits apply to upper level. Does COSC ever apply upper level credits for lower level courses taken at another institution?
Based on the degree plan I have 6 tests remaining and the 2 required classes (cornerstone/capstone) but of those remaining tests I will only get 12 UL credits and then 3 from the capstone. If I have to get 15 more UL credits than I am going to need to plan for another 4 or 5 tests in order to get them.
Any thoughts?

Have you logged on to view your transcript? This will show you all of your credits and whether they are UL or LL.

What subject areas do you need tests in?

Edit. I have now loged in and am reviewing the transcripts. I will post back with more later.

The tests I still need are for Ethical Decision Making(3cr), Business Electives (12cr), and Free Electives (2cr).

The transcript does not seem to have any indication of UL or LL. Am I missing something?

How are the course labeled. 300 or above would be upper level. 200 and below would be lower level.

Based on that I do not have any UL credits and will have to take at least 10 more tests. Sad

I am looking at my COSC transcript right now and it is very difficult to tell from the number of the course.

At the top of the transcript (which may be easier to view in the Status Report - pm me if you can't find it), there is a row that lists course number and description and then there is a space and the next category is level code. It simply says "U" under level code if it's UL. This field is left blank if it's LL.

Double check this and then if you really don't see any UL, email your advisor just to make sure that there aren't any mistakes. We can help for suggestions with tests if you need them.

I e-mailed my advisor to get clarification. The status report section is not available to me and my transcript does not have a level field at all. I think I will only be able to get a definite answer from COSC directly.

In the mean time here is my test plan.

UL Business concentration
DSST Business Ethics & Society
DSST Business Law II
DSST Money and Banking
ECE Human Resource Management

Ethical Decision Making
ECE Ethics Theory and Practice

Beyond that I need 2 Free Electives credits in order to reach 120 credits but it looks like I will have to take at least 4 additional UL tests that I was not planning for.

COSC sends you a degree plan? I went with TESC and it's like pulling teeth trying to figure out what classes I need. I may switch teams...decisions...

dirtybob - Have you received your eval yet? If so then you can pull it up online at the TESC student services site and see what classes you need instantly. If you see that you need a history class, just email enrolled@tesc.edu with your major in the subject line and ask for American History I CLEP to be added to your plan. This is just an example but once they add it you will see it show up in a slot as PL or planned.
I would recommend emailing them the entire list of tests you plan on taking to complete your degree and ask them to post them as planned courses.
This way you make sure you have your bases covered.

Let me know if you need any help understanding the format.
