Associate's degree for Apprenticeship

Some good info that I found out somewhat recently, those on here that have completed a registered apprenticeship through the Department of Labor (or the USMAP program for the military folk here) are eligible to enroll and complete an associates degree program through Vincennes University in General Studies - Technology Apprenticeship 8901, A.S Career/Tech. The program has the following minimum guidelines:

Guidelines for Technology Apprenticeship/Journeyman Credit

Apprenticeship/Journeyman credit up to 45 credit hours may be granted in one of three ways. The information below explains the guidelines for each.
I.Persons who have completed a U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training Program (minimum of 7200 hours) may be granted up to 45 credit hours by: 1.Making application and being accepted as a Vincennes University student;
2.Completing Technology Apprenticeship/Journeyman Credit Approval Form A;
3.Submitting a copy of a U.S. Department of Labor BAT Journeyman Certificate; and
4.Submitting payment for up to 45 credit hours at $25.00 per credit hour.

II.Persons who have completed an apprenticeship program approved by an industrial association such as: “The Associated Builders & Contractors of Indiana,” “The Independent Contractors Association,” “The National Tooling & Machining Association,” etc. The program must consist of a minimum of 576 clock hours of related classroom training and 8000 hours of on-the-job training. Up to 45 credit hours may be granted by: 1.Making application and being accepted as a Vincennes University student;
2.Completing Technology Apprenticeship/Journeyman Credit Approval Form B;
3.Submitting a copy of an Industrial Association Journeyman certificate; and
4.Submitting payment for up to 45 credit hours at $25.00 per credit hour.

III.Persons who have not participated in a formal apprenticeship program but have earned Journeyman Status through years of work experience (5 or more) may be granted up to 37 credit hours by: 1.Making application and being accepted as a Vincennes University student;
2.Completing Technology Apprenticeship/Journeyman Credit Approval Form C;
3.Providing the following documentation: a.Detailed narrative describing the competencies learned through on-the-job experience,
b.Letters from employers stating the length of employment and describing competencies demonstrated on-the-job,
c.Trade Certifications earned, and
d.Credit earned in Post-Secondary Technical courses that are directly trade related; and

4.Submitting payment for up to 37 credit hours at $25.00 per credit hour.

As per correspondence from one of the advisors, the $25 fee is also waived for military personnel.

Even though there is the fee for everyone else, this path to completing a degree is considerably cheaper than the traditional route. It would only cost $1125 for transferring 45 credit hours compared to whatever the equivalent amount of courses at a traditional school. I honestly wish I would have gone this route several years ago when I needed to have a degree to help me advance, but I want to pass the knowledge to others and hope this helps. I'm wondering out loud what the 7200 apprenticeships are. For culinary, I used to direct an apprenticeship program, and ours was 6000 hours (3 years @ 40 hours per week or longer if you weren't full time) so for 7200 you're looking at a pretty lengthy training program. In the case of our students, they were simultaneously earning college credit, which I thought was more and more common? This isn't really my area of expertise, but isn't it customary for military training to already have ACE credit in some amount? I guess I'm trying to figure out if this is a deal or if these guys are predatory lol.

I have looked in the program quite a bit, and can only speak from what I have learned over time. Most of the apprenticeships I have completed have an 8000 hour requirement. I also just recently took over my as the coordinator for my command and found some info on the USMAP website. I did some digging and emailed several people from the school, one of which was retired Navy. The thing is not all programs require over 7200 hours. I completed an Electronics Tester which was 6000 hours and Electronics Mechanic which was 8000 hours. Its not going to be the same for every program.
