I did a lot of public speaking in high school too. Also, my job required a lot of public speaking to my superiors as well as students. By the time I earned my BA degree, I had thousands of hours of public speaking. I think it's situational, but I do agree that learning to do public speaking is important- how you get credit for it, ehh.
