Is the English composition requirement for TESC a paper-based test or a computer-based test?
Saint Clair County Community College said they'd have to order in a whole package... Is it this specific exam or the testing center that's in the stone-age still?
Thanks,
- Bo

The regular version of the test which TESC accepts uses a 100% computerized test and gives you two essays to complete on the computer which are graded within a few weeks by teachers contracted with CollegeBoard (maker of CLEP). If that school doesn't have computerized testing than I'd say you need to find another testing center to make the process easier. You will take College Composition (not college composition modular) for TESC to assign ENC-101 and ENC-102 credit. They MAY still offer a paper version some places but I'd prefer to type it out, I guess the choice is yours as long as you can get the credits.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

I would suggest questioning the test center to make sure they are not talking about ordering the optional essays that are offered with the College Composition Modular exam. I was under the impression that CLEP was completely going away from the paper-based exams (except for those who make an accommodations request) over a year ago. The only paper component left would be the handwritten optional essays offered with College Comp Modular, American Lit, English Lit, and Analyzing & Interpreting Lit (which cost an additional $10 fee). Have you specifically asked them if they are a paper-based or a computer-based CLEP test center? This could be a simple misunderstanding...

I just checked their website and saw that it says the candidates will receive their results right away -- this means computer-based. If you are planning to take the College Composition exam (2 mandatory, typed essays built right into the exam and included in the exam score sent later), there is nothing to order. If you mean the College Composition Modular exam (2 optional, handwritten essays are offered and not included in the exam score which is immediate), they will just need to order the optional essays and may require the extra $10 payment upfront.
