I barely passed American Literature but did fairly well with English Literature. A lot will come down to familiarity with the texts (as is to be expected!) Both have close reading and technical analysis aspects (what does this mean, what rhyming scheme/device).

Agree with Shoto that Humanities is the easiest of the three. It still required a lot of study for me, though it set me up very well for the two lit tests.

Good luck!

Good luck!

I haven't taken Humanities, but I have taken Eng and Am Lit, and I would have to agree that I found Eng Lit a bit easier that Am Lit. There was a only a 4 point difference between my two scores, but I had less study material for Eng Lit (by about oh, 300 pages, to be honest) and a good portion of Eng Lit was also basically A&I Lit all over again. The Idiot's Guide (the defacto study material for Am Lit) honestly didn't have the depth the test required and contained a ton of extranious fluff, which, while being good info, really clouded the issue on what was needed for the test.*

*Granted, I know the IG was not created to be specifically a study guide for the test, but the way people had talked about it, it was the holy grail of Am Lit info... But the material I had on the test itself required a familiarity with the authors' work...
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

I'm going to be the odd one out here & say:

1. Am Lit
2. Eng Lit
3. Humanities

It's quite possible that if I had taken Am Lit before English, I would have thought it was harder, though. Also, I had more previous knowledge about Am lit. Humanities was just really, really broad, which I find harder to study.

For me as well the order was:

Humanities
English Literature
American Literature

I've always enjoyed the topics covered in the Humanities test, so it wasn't really difficult at all. Although if I was taking it again, I probably would have studied a little more architecture, some of those questions surprised me.

English literature is also one of my favorite topics, and it was very interesting to study for the test. I think I learned a lot of cool facts, and even though I didn't get as high of a score, I was still confident about passing it.

In my opinion, the American Literature was the most difficult, possibly because I detest most American books Wink I believe I got the same score as the English literature test, but it was more challenging for me because I had to study a little more (and learn about something that wasn't as interesting to me) However, I don't think it is necessarily a hard test, just harder for me because I didn't like the subject. These 3 tests are actually some of the easiest I have taken, so I wouldn't be too worried Smile

Good luck!
