Business Communications + other courses = 19.00 per credit!!!

These classes MAY provide an inexpensive alternative to other courses for degree requirements. Folks are going to need to contact CFT to find out what the cost really is, and then try the courses out and leave feedback here.

This CFT possibility is especially intriguing for a few reasons:
1. It covers some classes not available via testing out (e.g. Business Communications)
2. It provides a ready source for upper-level credits
3. For classes in which a student is having trouble learning the material, these courses may provide some viable (and hopefully, less expensive) alternatives.

I found all this very interesting, so when I looked at their website--I noticed a very well developed "contacts" section--complete with pictures! Marta in Massachusetts looked like she'd be helpful, so I called--she picked up the phone and she was VERY helpful. The short story is that the bundled self-paced courses are not ACE-approved. Most only take 1-5 hrs. to complete so there's not much to review--although I suppose they could go the FEMA credit route if someone there was interested in looking at that.

In any event, I chatted with Marta for a good 20 minutes while I was supposed to be working and I directed her to our forum so she could see some of the questions. She indicated that she may be able to respond here and provide more information so, in case she can, I'll leave it at this for now.

FYI, Marta is also one of the instructors and it appeared to me based on my discussion with her that the institution itself is very well-run, conscientious and has many course offerings in different formats. One big plus--they have on-line courses with no proctored exams--and they have ACE-approved self-paced courses.

Hopefully, they'll come up with some sort of discount offer for the ACE-approved courses. Imagine what that would do for their business! (One look at the AJU promotion thread should give you an idea.) Even better yet for the CFT, if students go on to jobs with financial institutions, they'd have some built-in referrals. How much more win-win could you get?
