Can SL hurt in the future with GPA?
#1
If someone rushed at SL and got C's (because they are attending TESU and they know the grade doesn't show), what if they switch to COSC or get a second degree at COSC? Won't the C's bring down their GPA?

I probably won't ever go to COSC, but I could if I got a job with free tuition reimbursement or had high disposable income, and I would care if the SL grades brought down my GPA. And I am curious. I would feel bad if I told my friend to rush and get C's, and then they attended COSC.

COSC is the only school I've heard of that awards grades for SL courses. That leaves 25,000 schools that don't. This seems like an easy problem to avoid.

Furthermore, if you're making more $. COSC won't even be on your list of schools... Your mindset would be looking at other options at TESU or Excelsior and the competency based programs (or others at a Masters level).

I would just tell anyone who's planning on going to COSC to make sure they get good grades at SL, or avoid them altogether. Then, you've solved the problem.

Also, does COSC give grades if they come off the ACE transcript, or only if they come straight from SL?

Speaking from experience....

If you got a C in a SL class, you could have it transcripted to ACE and then send it to COSC.

Yes, you do have to pay for that ACE transcript, but it comes in as a pass without a grade...

And then you get an award at graduation for having a 4.0 GPA...   Rolleyes

Seriously?! I think that's the same if you send it to TESU or another place.
There are no grades/GPA's calculated for courses not taken at the school.
Institutional GPA would be any course, like the Capstone/Cornerstone taken.

That's not what that person is saying. TESU only counts its own courses toward its GPA, so it doesn't matter if you send in transcripts from anywhere with bad grades. COSC does count grades from transfer courses into its GPA. If you send in a transcript from another school, then your grades from there will be included in the GPA. If you send a transcript from SL, then your grades from there will be included in their GPA. If you send an ACE transcript, there will be no grades on it. COSC can't include your SL grades because they won't have them from the ACE transcript; the grades are only on the SL transcript. If you don't want COSC to include your bad grades from SL, then don't send an SL transcript because your grades will be on it. Send an ACE transcript because ACE transcripts do not have grades.
