Hello everyone! I passed the Biology Clep today with a 64. Thanks for all your feedback from your experience with the test. It was very helpful. I thought I would post about my experience along with study materials for you to consider if you plan on taking Biology.
Someone posted a review for Biology Smart by Debbie Guest. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who plans on taking the Biology exam. Purchase it cheap from Amazon.com. Mine costed about 4 cents plus $4 shipping. It does need supplemented, however, as was pointed out on the forum. I sped through a textbook by Jay Wile in about a month or two (I had read about half of it two years ago and wanted to finish it). I also used IC (which is very in-depth but helpful),and Cliff's Quick Review Biology. Peterson's practice tests are very helpful. It is good to look up on wikipedia the questions you have trouble on with Peterson's and write down the definitions of terms to cement them in your mind.
I think the exam I was given was a lot like Peterson's. I received a 63 on the first Peterson's practice test and a 73 on the second. I did not get to the third, but I answered 69% of the college board questions correctly. So if you look at what I got, 64 on the real test, it was a little less than my last two practice tests, so plan on getting less than you score on the practice tests.
I hope to post more specific info later when my mind will let me think! Thanks for your encouragement.

ShotoJuku states:[YES.....Make sure that you have BIOLOGY down FIRST! I studied for biology for 3 weeks, took the exam (and passed) and then studied the other sections for the NS exam for 2 weeks took that exam (and passed).
12 credits in 5 weeks - Go For Broke
Please share how you studied for this and passed in 3 weeks. This is my first CLEP and I am not really sure how to just "start" and do it. Thank you.

Drummerboy,
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on passing a difficult exam! Secondly, you posted GREAT feedback in the Specific Exam Feedback section this afternoon. That is exactly the sort of post we are looking for, because it will really benefit others who follow in your footsteps.
Well done and thanks for the feedback,
JoAnne

If this is your FIRST exam, can you start with something less intense and straight forward such as sociology? BIO is doable, yet will require some intensive study and CLEP study discipline.
What do you think?

I was starting to notice that when reading about it, so I am thinking about doing American Government first (I already have Sociology/Psychology and a few other classes) - from what I have read Amer Govn't seems to be pretty straight forward. But still could you share your tips?
I am still floundering on what all classes I need to take for my degree - I am in the process of sending in transcripts for eval.. I know Bio is a pre-req for Nutrition which I need - ...

Hi Dawn,
You asked about "tips" for American Gov't and earlier for Biology - have you had a chance to check out the last section listed on the IC forum front page - "Specific Exam Feedback"? In that section you will find all kinds of good feedback from other IC members regarding each exam.
Just to get your started, here is the direct link for
American Gov't:http://www.instantcertonline.com/forums/...-clep.html
Link for
Biology: http://www.instantcertonline.com/forums/...-clep.html
Hope that helps!

Sorry for not being more clear - I am still referring to my post regarding the post make by ShotoJuku who states:[ I studied for biology for 3 weeks, took the exam (and passed)
Passing bio in 3 weeks - now that will be my goal after Amer Govn't.....
