Bad news for my TESC degree
#41
Since you are planning on going somewhere else, Can you spare the rest of us the agony of applying there by posting the name of the institution that way we can avoid them or all of us should apply to their nursing program just to make them do some real research on the big three. Thanks for trying to take a stand, remember it took one young lady taking a stand by sitting in the wrong side of the bus to change a society.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

[/URL]I referenced the name of the school in this post when I was applying to a different program at the same institution. My relationship with this school is far from over--I still have a few more classes to take here.

I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences with me. I'm pressing on. Big Grin

Maybe they can afford to be selective. I have not had any problems with my tesc degrees being accepted at ncu or usf. Any other options?

Definitely. All nursing programs can afford to be selective right now. My option for this school year is WGU. If not that, next year I have TESC and an out-of-state private institution. (I wish I could apply to TESC this year, but I can't finish microbiology in time, and that's one subject where I feel I'll shortchange myself if I simply take an exam and not a class.)

The university of Idaho has microbiology self paced for about $300....would give you a grade from a legit school too.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Thank you. I took a look and it doesn't seem to include a lab component. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Snickerdoodle-

After reading through these posts I realized that you have not applied for graduation. That in and of itself could be part of the problem. Most of the accelerated BSN programs simply require that you have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited school and the appropriate prereqs. Currently, when you send your TESC transcript they see a bunch of transfer credit and no courses from TESC. They cannot comprehend what you are sending them. Once you graduate they might be confused about how you earned your degree, but no matter how they check up on it your degree will check out. These schools are looking to place a check in a box and anything less is questioned.

I had a similar situation. I was one course away from earning my AA degree at Coastline CC when I applied to SPC as a pre-nursing student. They gave me a list of general education courses that I needed to take. I searched their site and found a passage that read "students who have already earned an AA degree or higher are exempt from all general education courses." The advisors were always focused in the realm of what they know and that required me to take a bunch of general ed. courses. The bottom line is that no matter how close I was, I did not have an AA degree. I decided to take the final course at Coastline; I graduated and sent my transcript to SPC. The next time I checked with SPC, I was automatically populated in their system as being exempt. The box had been checked.

That's possible, thank you. I was told that the fact that my degree is in progress wasn't a problem as long as I finished before the program's start date (before they realized the nature of my degree). They put a great deal of emphasis on evaluating my credits individually. I wish I had a bit more time to go and just test out of my remaining credits instead of using my in-progress B&M classes to finish my degree, but those very classes are keeping me so busy. *sigh*

Snickerdoodle Wrote:Alright, so the program director called me back. I sensed a lot of negativity on her part. We basically went over the same points. I offered to send her more info regarding my choice of TESC (i.e. my letter) and she declined saying that the records office and the committee had extensively researched TESC over an extended period of time and that any additional information would not change that decision. I agree that there are other schools that are more worth my time to apply. At this point, I don’t wish to further antagonize this school by sending a clearly unwanted letter. I’m probably already on the blacklist. Big Grin Thanks everyone for your valuable advice. Like some of you have said, I think I really have to move on.

I think you should pull a Marianne: get into a different RN program, graduate, get a masters, then go back and take her job. That'll show em' Smile

Just throwing this out there, but Ocean.edu is the CC where I took microbiology w/lab and it was a 5 week mini-mester. Really learned a ton.
