Thanks!!

It's no longer an option, all schools require some sort of capstone.

There are some schools that give Bachelor's with just oral exams and things like that, I think.

What's the problem with the capstone though?

I'm pretty sure this isn't true - ALL schools don't require anything, that's too broad of a statement. The Big 3 all require capstones, for instance, except that of course there's an exception - TESU's BS in Data Analytics doesn't!

There are some people who are not exceptional readers or writers and have difficulty with that.

To be blunt, the ability to read and write should be among the bare minimum requirements to have a bachelors degree. If, for example, English is difficult as a non-native speaker, there are presumably programs available in one's native language that would be a better fit.

TESU should have a few options that do not require a capstone, but they all will require a 3 credit course in Critical Information Literacy/Cornerstone.
  • ASBA (Business)
  • ASN (Math/Computer Science/Biology)
  • AA (General Studies)
  • AAS (Criminal Justice)
  • BS Data Science and Analystics (mentioned above by dfrecore)
COSC offers a General Studies AA or AS that does not require a capstone, but does require a cornerstone course. They also offer an AS ECE (early education) that does not appear to require a capstone, but does require a cornerstone as well as a practicum.

Board of Governors AAS (BOG AAS) programs do not require a cornerstone or a capstone course. Residency requirements are 0-15 credit hours depending on the school you earn it through. Regardless of residency requirements, it's best to earn at least one credit via the school of choice to ensure the school will provide a transcript.

The Regents Bachelor of Arts degree at any West Virginia college does not require math nor a capstone.

Most DEAC schools do not require a capstone.
