BURNT OUT! - Where can I buy some motivation!
#21
There is a LOT of good information on this forum, but why doesn't everyone who has ever visited have a degree? Ultimately, each one of us is responsible for our own advancement. So toot your horn!!! (The ONLY piece of advice that I recall from my father was, "He who tooteth not his own horn, the same shall not be tooted. " [Maybe I spend too much time with the sex abuse unit, but that seems to have sexual overtones to me which I'm sure that my father did NOT intend!])

We are favored to have such wise counsel here, but all the wise counsel in the world isn't getting those degrees for you. Congratulations on YOUR achievements.

One trick I did when I was still in the military and studying for advancement tests was to get a uniform patch for my next paygrade and use it as a book mark. I also had patches in my rack, so it was the first thing and the last thing I saw when I went to bed.

I was always being reminded as to what my end goal was. When I wanted to stop and just quick I had a visual reminder.

What would be your end game? Find something that works for you.

It could be making a name tag with your name with PMP after it and place that somewhere you see it on a regular basis.

Set a goal for yourself. When you graduate go on vacation. Find a picture of your destination and use that for your visual push.

soliloquy Wrote:That's probably part of it. It's been a long suffering process. I began my AA at the beginning of 2013. Now finishing my MS at the end of spring 2016. Tons of testing out. Also, four professional certifications along the way. Not tooting my own horn but it's amazing when I look back on all that I've accomplished. Then perhaps we should toot because we've worked hard for this. I didn't even know I had this much stamina for educational goals. Infact, there are about five people on this board that could toot a horn because of my accomplishments. My family could certainly do some tooting because they've had to put up with a lot this last couple of years. I could not have done any of this without this board or the people in my life that are giving me support and ignoring my mood swings.

Just crazy tired.

Being done is definitely and motivation but now I see myself browsing doctorates and I'm like please sit down and just enjoy this accomplishment first. In fact, I even considered getting another certification during my break this winter but my husband said no. Lol

Wow, which schools and what certificates did you get?
I'm really impressed.

I'm doing an Engineering related degree (Engineering Technology) and I'm not sure where I can fit in the time for other certifications.
Did your Project Management classes tell you that you'll be over worked and under appreciated? My PM class text book pretty much said that on a repeated basis for the first few chapters.
