BS in Homeland Security & Emergency Management
#1
I am looking through a lot of my extra credits from the old days and was wondering if any of the Non-AOS electives can be done for this degree? I have the AOS electives done 100% and also have several other classes I never transferred in from my Emergency Management Volunteer days. Is there alternative credit available for the BS in HLSEM degree core? I would only need 7 classes to get this degree alongside my BALS in 2019.

Good Luck.

When I applied to TESU they took almost nothing of my Gov't EM (ACE) credits.  I have them from tons of sources.  TEEX (F2F), EMI, NFA, etc. that were all ACE credits.  They were listed as not the TESU HSEM core of the ones they did take. Sad

In addition, they took zero from my community college of a mixed of FEMA IS and other EM classes.  Even after I told them some of the classes are not IS they still refused to take any.

I was told by TESU I needed 27 SH.  So I went with Excelsior College and only 4 SH in the HSEM Degree.  I became the first EC HSEM graduate.

I would not do 27 for a BS in Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM) at TESU.  I would do HSEM at ASU or U. of Alaska and do 30SH (just 3 SH more).  They were my backup until Excelsior College came through. Big Grin

You don't need to take 27 credit hours at TESU. CSU Global has SSAs that will cover some of those requirements. Penn Foster also has a terrorism course. Propero has a homeland security course. Research methods isn't EM specific; Study.com, CSU Global, and Uexcel offer a research methods course/exam. Most of the EM ACE courses don't align with the core, so they become AOS electives. The AOS electives are VERY flexible. You should have no problem finding plenty of tests and ACE courses to fulfill those requirements.

I don't see a cultural diversity requirement on the website, but there is a Uexcel for that.

Just remember that the BS and BA are different, so may require 2 separate capstone courses.

I think the key here is its an HSEM degree.  BA/BS meaning nothing.

She means that the BA in liberal studies requires the liberal arts capstone whereas the HSEM program has its own capstone.

I did mean that.

They come from different schools, so 2 capstones.
