After I finish up two UL BIO courses at my local B&M university next month, I will be one TESC class away and one clep away from graduating with a BA Nat. Sci/Math degree from TESC:hurray:. My plan is to start teaching at the middle or high school level after jumping through a lot of hoops that the educational system has in place.
I would really like to hear from some others that have graduated or are presently working on this degree. What are you doing now? What are you planning on doing with your degree?
I know this degree is was designed to allow in a large amount of credits and is really not a focused degree such as a BS Biology, Chemistry, Comp. Sci, etc. So I was wondering how the degree was or will be used in the real world by graduates.
Thanks.

Excellent question! I am currently working on the same degree from the same place (I'm farther out–30 credits to go), and am dealing with the same question. When I originally started work on it, I was planning to teach. Now I'm not so sure. I know that is not much help to you, but I would be fascinated to hear any responses from others. By the way, congratulations on the near-completion of your effort!

I have used mine to become "Eligible to teach Middle school Math and Science." What that means is I can apply for those jobs then jump through more hoops and in a year or two after proving myself as a teacher I can get my real License.
I also have 30+ years of experience in a chemical/biochemical Lab so I can also look into jobs in that area( I could look before but most wouldn't look back). I have been called by recruiters I am just to busy with trying to teach and now moving. I believe this degree could get my foot in the doors that would have been slammed before.

Congrats on your progress. I also just completed this degree at TESC.
My grandfather has a degree in natural science as well and taught 9th grade science in the 70s-early 90s and is now retired.
He was always an inspiration to me to pursue higher level math and science and I am glad to have completed a degree like his.
In this day and age, a BA Nat Sci would be a minimum qualification I think, so I would recommend working on a MEd in science education while trying to get a job as a teacher. There are low cost courses you can take online for graduate credit from VESI and others.
BSBA CIS from TESC, BA Natural Science/Math from TESC
MBA Applied Computer Science from NCU
