Hey, I was wondering if anyone had a template for BA in English? I am going to be going through Thomas Edison and was needing some help for planning it all out. Thanks.

I'm not studying at TESC, but I am an English major so I'm familiar with the courses available. Here is a possible outline of TESC's English major. The major requires 6 credits of Survey of Literature I & II, 3 credits of Analysis and Interpretation of Literature, 3 credits in Nonwestern Literature, and 21 credits in English electives. Here is a breakdown of the requirements with possibilities for fulfilling them. Of course, always get approval in advance from your advisor to ensure courses will meet the requirements.
I created this list using credit-by-exam whenever possible, but there are certainly many regular courses that will also fulfill the requirements. All of the courses listed below, with the exception of the Nonwestern Literature courses, are credit-by-exam. I do not know of any credit-by-exam options that will fulfill the Nonwestern Literature requirement, so those are just courses. For the Nonwestern Lit courses, I listed some of the more affordable options with which I am familiar. A. Survey of Literature I & II (6 credits): CLEP English Literature (6 credits) American Literature (6 credits) Excelsior College American Dream (6 credits) Ohio University English Literature 1500-1660 (4 quarter units) English Literature 1660-1800 (4 quarter units) or American Literature to 1865 (4 quarter units) American Literature 1865-1918 (4 quarter units) American Literature 1918 to Present (4 quarter units) B. Analysis and Interpretation of Literature CLEP Analysis and Interpretation of Literature (6 credits) Ohio University Critical Approaches to Fiction (4 quarter units) Critical Approaches to Drama (4 quarter units) C. Nonwestern Literature Western Washington University Chinese Literature in Translation (5 quarter units) Japanese Literature in Translation (5 quarter units) American Military University Middle Eastern Literature (3 credits) African Literature (3 credits) D. English Electives Ohio University Shakespeare: The Histories (4 quarter units) Shakespeare: The Comedies (4 quarter units) Shakespeare: The Tragedies (4 quarter units) Excelsior College: Excelsior College Ohio University: Ohio University Western Washington University (Nonwestern Literature courses are under the heading "East Asian Studies;" other English courses are listed under the headings "English" and "Liberal Studies."): Western Washington University American Military University: American Military University |
