You could finish with 9 hours in anything. TESU does not accept FEMA, but they do accept the free TEEX Cybersecurity series and three free hours of NFA courses.

Thank you for your help filling out all my credits into the required fields! This is so helpful!

Questions:

Do you think Saylor is easier than Straighterline? I dropped out of CSU Global due to cost, inability to pass Algebra on my own through Straighterline and they wouldn't allow me to transfer all my credits. I had enrolled into several Straighterline courses and found their testing to be completely different than what I'd studied in my book. Am I limited to Business Comm 300? Because I found COMM411: Public Relations (https://learn.saylor.org/course/view.php?id=20) on Saylor.org and would like to study that, but don't know if it counts because it's a 400 class?

So, to do those free TEEX Cybersecurity classes, I'd need to create an ACE account for transcript transfers? Is there a cost to ACE?

Are these the NFA courses you're suggesting? https://apps.usfa.fema.gov/nfacourses/ I can take any course that's three hours for transfer?

Thank you again for all your help, I really appreciate it!!

UL means Upper Level.
Did your associate degree come from a community college or a 4-year institution?

I agreed with Jennifer on most of her classifications of the courses.

I'm guessing TESU will probably bring the CIS courses in as CAP courses. Just because one school classifies something as CIS does not mean that TESU will.

I also thought that FVT & GAT courses will not be considered GE, they will be Free Electives.

I did think that Acting, Drawing & Design all would count as GE.

collegechick Wrote:Thank you for your comment. So, are you saying that even with 88 legit credits, I still may not be able to apply all of them to the Communications Degree? If so, TESU is definitely not as liberal as I thought. Also bummed to learn that they don't accept FEMA courses, as I've completed 6 additional credits through them as well.

TESU is pretty fair most of the time - they just may not be a good fit for your credits that you already have.

If I were you, I would apply to TESU and COSC - COSC may have more space in their degree programs for the courses that you've taken. TESU is a little more "traditional" in how they treat a lot of credits, and if they're not GE, or in the AOS, then there's not a lot of space for them for some degree programs with some credit.

alleycat Wrote:Yes Kay V you are right it will and should come in under humanities and natural science. Her credits in Adobe will and can come in under Art. Foundation of Design, Computer Paint, Drawing and Media can come in under Art. But I do not think they will come in under upper level. Those can also count as humanities if need be. But if the degree seeker want a Communication degree I would definantely make sure these course go toward that. Just ask for a revaluation on it after they come in.

I may be wrong about the classifications - it's worth an eval to see. Anything computers and anything art can go either way. I opted to err on the side of them not being gen ed because of their prefix, not titles, but it could go either way.

If she is doing a Communication Degree she probably could do Saylor Corp Communication. So much over lap from the other courses/exams and it only $25. Just a thought.
