I see it has already been recommended, but I am here to vouch for Speechify. I have learned that at the end of the day, I retain more if I listen while I am reading, because I am so tired, my brain just doesn't retain reading only. So Speechify has helped in that.

It has many "natural" sounding AI voices, from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google.
IMO, those just aren't very good or natural. They tend to sound robotic. You really need to pay for Speechify to get the premium, more realistic, voices.

I highly recommend getting your "Tools" in place when you're working on any ACE courses, once you're familiar with the resources, it'll be easier when you need it for the courses at whichever college/university you're heading to, be it Excelsior, UMPI or whatever else. So, some resources are grammarly, speechify, google translate, etc... Again, if you have a second monitor for these "tools" and the course materials open for review, you can use your first monitor for "completing" those assignments.

A free service usually won't be as good as a paid one. However, for most purposes, I found the robotic voices just enough. Some free voices are good; I used 'Amazon Australian English (Russell)', 'Amazon British English (Brian)', 'Microsoft US English (Mark)', 'Microsoft British English (George)', and 'GoogleStandard British English (Benjamin)'. Google voices are generally better, but they need permission every session and they are not reliable (because they are not free and they stop working randomly).
For more serious purposes, I used murf.ai before and it was a pleasant experience.

The no-additional-cost text to speech functions and the included or the no-additional-cost downloadable voices on Mac OS, iOS, Windows, Word, and Chrome have worked well for me.
I've splurged for one paid text to speech app, Voice Dream Reader on iOS. 9.99 USD one time purchase and that also worked well for me.

Most of the "free" versions will work for you, but there are some features that are very useful on the "paid subscription" versions such as Grammarly. I would invest in those upgraded paid subscriptions for a year to get you through the courses easier, I think of it as a small investment to help me pass courses with better grammar in my writing. I sure beats paying a few hundred to a thousand dollars to take a course and get a mediocre grade. Read this thread, especially post #10 from LevelUP.
