Assessing the International Equivalency/acceptance of Online Degrees from the Big 3
#1
I am wondering if online degrees with credit transfers are considered less valuable than traditional brick and mortar degrees due to factors such as the time it takes to obtain the degree and the process of transferring credits. Specifically, I am curious if pursuing a graduate degree in countries like Germany, Canada, or the US with an online degree would create acceptance issues.

Have there been cases where individuals have applied for graduate programs at traditional universities, both nationally and internationally, with an online degree and been accepted? Or have there been cases where individuals have been rejected due to the amount of credits transferred or the fact that they completed their degree online? I have reviewed the German Anabin system, which determines the recognition of foreign educational qualifications in Germany, and the results for the three major countries are as follows:

Excelsior University: ( Liberal arts college )
H+ university is recognized in Germany.

Thomas Edison State University: (Specialized Institutions/other )  H+/- no clear recognition status for your university and each degree is evaluated and decided on on a case-by-case basis.

Charter Oak State College: (Liberal arts college )  H+ university is recognized in Germany.

Further more as seen this this thread  " After all the recent changes, what's the possibility of doing undergrad from India?" India has a problem with online degrees apparently, same goes for Algeria as you have to provide a proof of residency in the country you studied in.

Does anyone have more information about countries like, France, Germany, Canada, Austria, UK, Australia and Austria ?

You can do this research by looking for Linkedin profiles of grads of these schools in Canada then looking for any WES evaluation.

In the case of TESU, it is recognized as equivalent by WES in Canada.

As far as I know H+/- means that one evaluation was deemed not equivalent. Maybe they had 1000 valid and 1 was not valid or had 1 valid and 1000 not valid. The problem comes if the degree had portfolios or professional experience and not college level classes or maybe where certificates, who knows. Germany does not like credits by exam. Anyway the website we have access to is just a sample or at least limited. They evaluate a lot more degrees and do not appear there once evaluated (at least in my case).
The best option will be if somebody that went to TESU could give testimony of his experience with ANABIN.

I had my fears too with TESU for the H+/-. At the end I arrive to he conclusion that the fear was unfunded and TESU looked good and solid. My guess is that the degree will be accepted in Germany and I will bet for it, but until we get confirmation from somebody all are speculations. TESU is a solid institution in my book and has a great trajectory as a university teaching distance education and probably more experience than most.

Thank you for your reply, after digging a little bit more about TESU and the german system it seems that the problem with TESU is the PLA Prior Learning Assessment, german seem to not accept credit gained outside of college. It would be good to know of someone had their degree evaluated by ANABIN to remove the doubt.

We got a degree plan for the SNHU graphic design degree. It would cost around $15,000.

@Aimed, you don't really need a graphics design degree to get into graphic design (or a similar field like UX/UI design). My recommendations usually are threefold, get relevant certs, a similar degree, and experience. So, as an example, you can get the UX/UI design cert from Google and ladder that up to IBM Full Stack Developer, finish a quick UMPI BLS with MIS/PM/Management degree, and get some experience in a specific graphic design area.

Has anyone here got his degree evaluated by the german authorities ? (ZAB and Anabin)
I am currently enrolled at Purdue Global (BS IT) and of course with lots of transfer credits, and I am willing to apply for a german equivalency of the degree for a pending german job offer
Thanks everyone, every update is appreciated

I have 3 degrees evaluated many years ago without problem. But they are from another European country. Mainly what they check in my opinion 1) that the degree is of legal standing as a university degree in the country of Origin 2) The number of university credits and equivalence to ECTS 3) If the degree is in any of the databases they have or have access to ( I say this because in my evaluation they had a lot more information about my degrees than the info I gave them, have had to come from somewhere... my guess a database).

Perdue Global is RA. This is good and most probably somebody else send a degree from them, so they will know the place, which is also good. My guess is that all that is positive for the evaluation.
As for the transfer credits I cannot help you there. Only comment that in the past they had accepted degrees from the Big 3. This should give you some comfort, but not 100% security.
