How would that affect Granthan's NA accreditation, would that open their programs to move up to RA? It seems most of the online for profits are getting "bought out."

Wow. I wonder how/if that would change Grantham. I know part of their marketing is the low tuition and being “military-friendly”

Arkansas' "eVersity" is accredited by DEAC, same as Grantham.

DEAC accreditation is probably just interim accreditation until eVersity can obtain regional accreditation. Grantham didn't seem to have an interest in ever earning RA. I don't know if they previously applied, but they've been around for a while. Eversity is relatively new.

What's in it for Grantham? The article says this deal isn't like the Kaplan/Purdue Global deal. Grantham is only getting a buck. So what's in it for them?

I was wondering the same thing.
I wonder if anyone will buy UofPhoenix next? They probably have too much stigma attached to them for many respectable institutions to come anywhere near...

According to the article cited below, Arkansas would acquire Grantham for $1 but would assume “certain discrete liabilities”. The article doesn’t specify what those are, but my bet would be some combination of debt, (bad) contracts, and/or potential liability arising from litigation or similar.

I'm guessing Grantham is in trouble, so Arkansas is buying them out; they are worth more to Arkansas than the trouble they bring, but not by much - and I'm guessing Arkansas has been out there looking for a purchase, and Grantham ishas been out there looking for a buyer, and this was the deal they were both able to strike. Arkansas gets the $1 deal because nobody else made an offer.
Just a guess.
