First - thank you to all the contributors to this forum. I am new to this process and have already learned so much from your posts.
I am wondering how to determine my readiness from my practice test scores. I hope take the English Composition test soon (w/o essay, because time is of the essence). Although I'm doing quite well on InstantCert, I've read here that it is easier than the actual CLEP test. I am scoring an average of 75 on the Peterson's tests. Would I be likely to pass the CLEP with an adequate margin?

Welcome to the forum, Lisa_D! My experience with Peterson's tests vs. the real exams was that the Peterson's generally seemed more difficult. That said, I haven't taken the English Comp CLEP. Maybe someone who has will chime in and let us know. In any case, I would think that a 75 is good indication that you'll pass the CLEP.

Thank you for the replies. It's helpful to get some perspective. I want to be thorough in my study, but don't want to needlessly overdo it, you know? Yes - I would welcome input from anyone who has done the Peterson >> CLEP combination. In the meantime, maybe I'll do a few more hours of study, then go for it.

I took the test today (my first one) and passed with a 73!
The suggestions here were invaluable. Thank you again.

Congrats! Don't forget to update your signature now that you've knocked a CLEP out :hurray:
