Question guys....but first a little background.
I'm currently working in Florida, but would love to move back to Central Indiana as it's home and I own a house there. I planned to leave anyway in early May without a job, my wife has transferable employment. However, a job I've always wanted just opened up there and I had a phone interview and I'm now among three finalists for the position. However, to get the job I need to do a face to face interview with investors.....etc
I have three options. 1. Go up there and risk the waist of time and money (its 900 miles away) but possibly get the job. 2. Take myself out of the running altogether. 3. Explain the situation and ask if another, more in depth phone or skype type interview would suffice, but make it clear that if absolutely necessary I can come in. I'm not going to lie, money is tight and very much a factor here, but I don't know what to do. Would you take the risk?
Also, as previously state, I've informed my current employer I'm leaving in early May. If I was offered the position, I'd need to leave mid March, ie...3 weeks. I'd hate to do this to him, as I respect him very much, but my feeling is in the current economic climate, I need to take care of myself first and foremost and not let overt loyalty cloud my judgement. Ack. Tough but exciting decisions.
