dc67 Wrote:This is the kind of BU** SH** I was talking about when I started this thread:

Washington Times - Pelosi's mouse slated for $30M slice of cheese

30 mil to protect some mice in San Fransico. Little by little all of these pork projexts , that Obama got on national TV and said weren't there, will start coming out. If you spend taxpayer money to build a bridge, maybe you can call it stimulus. This though is just more corruption at its best. Before you say it, Yes, I know, Republicans do it to, but this time it is all Democrats 100 pct.
Atleast call a spade a spade, not stimulus, which it is not.

I wish I could just let this go but everytime I turn on the TV or read anything online, BAM, there it is. Of coarse I could just watch MSNBC 24/7 and I wouldn't have to hear any of this stuff I suppose.............

OUCH!!! That I would agree is the definition of PORK spending in action. In a time of economic crisis it's insane and practically traitorous to the American people!!! What a shame!!!
Well at least it brought us entirely back on topic we should be grateful RIGHT??? Rolleyes

Sorry guys. I am VARY, VARY concerned about conservation and responsible management of the resources God gave us, and it pains me deeply when these privileges of the human race are abused, but 30 million when we've got this sort of economic crisis just raises my dander a little too much. In reality it's just a sad reflection of those we elected to govern us! This should strike vary deep into the harts and minds of all Americans. Sad

Your right! So hop onboard the Independent train, they are headed on the right track. One thing is for sure, we need change. We can think for ourselves, we don't need Republicans/Democrats doublespeak. All people should be taken care of, not just a select few. As long as there's pigs, there will be pork!

RUDDIGORES statement was: I would like to see the dollars used by those who earned them, not by the nanny government which always knows best. Many people complain about the rich (I am not rich, by the way). But who is it that creates jobs? Do poor people create jobs? No, they need jobs; let the private sector provide the jobs, not the government.

Capitalism works if left alone. If you don't believe me...sorry.

Ruddigore, sorry I must address this statement. You give the rich too much credit........way too much credit. The middle class as well as the poor, have played a huge role in creating America, you seem to have forgotten that. Are you looking at what the wealthy are doing now? They are cutting jobs, taking their bonuses and running tail. If you respect and admire that, you need less recess and more study time. W/out loans....and workers, there aren't any jobs. In many cases, these rich you look up to are merely figureheads. Wealth does not necessarily = brains. In many instances, this wealth was created through unethical practices and fraud. While capitalism works, there is NO perfect system. Throw in intangibles such as lack of ethics, fraud, abuse, lobbyists, crooked politicians etc, and capitalism has its holes too. I don't think capitalism took all this into account in its earliest practices. Not at this level. Now, I must make a comment about pork to stay up w/the thread. I like pork but.........make sure it is fully cooked. Make sure you trim the fat first. Now, back to our show........ Ruddigore, I respect ironworkers, electricians, roofers, truckdrivers, people that WORK hard for their $$$ everyday. A suit & tie does not automatically mean that person works hard. Not that I don't like to wear them (I don't), but I will never say the wealthy create jobs. In todays climate, nothing could be further from the truth. Pick yourself up man, don't give them that much credit. To make one more pork comment, I agree that the stimulus package has many questions to be answered. No doubt about it. How long would you like to debate it???? People need jobs NOW. Blame the Democrats if you want, I have no love lost for them BUT the Republicans were running the ship and it ran aground. THAT, there can be no denying. Case closed, guilty as charged.

I just have to ask... how do you define wealthy? If you define it as the handful of CEOs/executives who make millions or even billions of dollars a year, you might be right.

However, there are many, many, many people (most of whom are not top executives at multi-billion dollar, multi-national corporations) who are considered "wealthy" and they ARE the ones starting businesses, funding schools, donating to charities and much more.

I understand your frustration at those who abuse their position and money, but assuming that their corruption extends to others is wrong.

I stated my point. I'm right and that's it and that's no bull! You conservatives make a lot of noise, how the heck did you get lassoed? I'm not giving numbers, you know the facts by now, they are wrecking the country by dividing classes. I don't really give a crap how hard you all work, there are people truly struggling and you are blind or ignorant to this. Very seriously and I can't stress this enough, just who do you people think you are? Most people are not lazy by nature. Give them a purpose and work will get done. Like one of my friends stated a couple of years back and it is so true, it doesn't mean anything to you until it becomes personal. This thread was about the stimulus bill and pork. I don't want to comment any farther on this but if you want to start a different thread on this subject and InstantCert doesn't mind, we can do it. You WILL NOT CHANGE MY MIND so why go there??????? Do you folks watch the evening news or read newspapers. The poor, illiterate, old, retired, minorities, you name it, Capitalism is coming right at them and stealing their $$$$. I am a strong supporter of regulation protecting them and also taking some of the stimulus and sending it their way. That is where I stand. Period. What don't you understand??????
