Anyone finish Penn Foster Statistics?
#1
I'm in the middle of this course and was wondering if anyone out there has finished this course and could shed some light on the final proctored exam? I'd like to know if the questions are similar in scope and difficulty to the other exams, and if the 1 hour time limit seemed sufficient? Any insights on the final would be helpful!

Credits to finish:

I guess I'm blazing the trail on this one (but thats ok...I can do this!) Here's what I know so far:
1) For the math-phobic type like myself, this seems a viable option to getting thru the stats requirement. The course covers just the first 10 chapters of the supplied textbook, and skips over some of the "more involved" topics.
2) There are 3 unproctered and untimed, multiple choice exams that count for 2/3 of your final grade.
3)The proctored final counts as the other 1/3. There is a 1 hour time limit.
4) You must pass the final exam (70 or better). You can re-take the final with a best result of 70.
5) The final exam is not multiple choice- but I'm told it is very similar to the problems that the study guide directs you to solve thru the textbook. The final is open book, and I have been told that my TI-83 is OK- no laptops though.

I got thru the 1st exam with 100%, and am about to take the 2nd this weekend. I will post as I progress.

Oh yes, I made sure it was approved before I registered.

Good luck! Please keep us informed on your progress. This is the option I am looking to for Statistics. Dumb question though - What is the cost of the courses at Penn? I am really having to watch my budget and would like to factor costs in to see when I will be able to register for class.

Thanks for any info.

The cost is the best part about it! Tuition is $55/credit (x3), plus a $20 proctor fee (whatever that is). It is very simple to register for the course too- it took me about 10 minutes over the phone. The tuition includes the textbook, study guide, and a basic calculator. The only possible downside is that it is DETC accredited (but ACE approved). It will work for Excelsior, but I'm not sure how transferrable it will be. Since I have no plans to go further than a BS, it suits me fine.

DETC is nationally accreditation, compared to regional accreditation. Sometimes folks run into problems when trying to transfer nationally accredited courses. It's one of the biggest controversies going in college education. But, since the course is ACE approved, Excelsior (and probably most other schools) will accept it.
