Any reason not to drop BSBA CIS from the old TESU catalog?

About 2-3 years ago (well, 20+ years ago really), I started this journey with the intent of a dual BSBA concentration degree. I've now realized that I need a STEM degree, and that BSBA CIS is just a business degree which will be insufficient.

Minus the cornerstone and capstone, I've completed BSBA OPM. I'm only missing two courses for the CIS AOS, which I'm working on now. I also intend to get the Finance cert, because I have an interest in the field. I believe I may also qualify for the General Management cert, so I'll take all the freebies I can get.

For a STEM degree, BA CS is the easiest option to completion. I'm only missing 3 courses, which I'm working on now and will have them done by the end of October, same with the outstanding CIS courses.

Is there any reason I should NOT drop the BSBA CIS concentration and instead graduate with BSBA OPM and Finance? and just take the CIS as a certificate?

I'm asking because I'm on the old program catalog of BSBA CIS rather than the new BS CIS. If I drop it, it's unlikely I'll be able to get it back. Also, it seems like the certificates and the AOS concentrations may have some different requirements (though maybe it's just because TESU randomly lists accepted AOS courses on their website).

Specifically, the quantifiable benefit to dropping the CIS AOS is that I need to take ECO-4900 for the Finance cert, which is only available at TESU, and I'd have to cram that in with two capstones in my residency term. But if I take the BSBA Finance AOS, then ECO-4900 is not specified as a requirement. Thus, moving the CIS AOS to an undergrad cert saves me from taking an additional 4th year finance course, which will probably be work intensive.

Maybe the BSBA degree sounds "nicer" (more business-y?) with a dual concentration in Operations Management and Finance, rather than Operations Management and Computer Information Systems. But maybe not really, because these are all business administration areas, so it's probably just personal preference. If I was lazy and/or in a rush, I could just stop at BSBA OPM and never mind CIS or Finance.

Presently, I have about 110 RA credits and about 110 alt credits, so I won't have trouble with any overlapping courses between the two degrees. I'll have another 30 alt credits by early-2025 and that will be enough for now. I plan to take a flat-rate term at TESU for residency and completion of the two degrees starting early 2025. The courses will include the cornerstone, two capstones, and two other (easy) courses. I may need to pay to extend one or two of the capstones if they are time consuming or difficult, but I don't mind paying.

Of the other STEM degrees, BS Cloud and BS Cybersec looked interesting, but at while I'm not in a huge rush, I don't want to do 7-10 more courses of specialized UL courses which don't have many alt credit providers. Seems like I'd probably have to do an extra term at TESU with 5 courses if I were to pick one of these routes, which is why I settled on BA CS. I just need a generic STEM degree.

Since you've already complete a BSBA concentration and will now also complete the BA CS, there is no value added in completing the BSBA-CIS concentration. However, there is no reason to (formally) drop it either. When you apply to graduated just apply for the AOS you completed and also the BACS at the same time. You'll want to graduate with both at the same time to avoid the 24 new credit rule TESU has for 2nd degrees, but you are probably aware of that already. Also, make sure the BACS is on your official evaluation now, if you have not already - it is a simple email to advising ADD it.

Basically, it depends on your goal and the classes involved... I would look to see which AOS, Certs you prefer and the classes required for each, it may be identical for a few but some have different requirements for the AOS compared to the Cert. An example is, you can do the AOS CIS and do the Finance and Operations Management certs... OR, you can do a different AOS and do the CIS, Finance cert...
